Role overview
Lastwall is hiring a People Operations Manager to take full ownership of the People function for its expanding teams in the U.S. and Canada. This is a standalone position with broad responsibility and high autonomy, based in Fredericton, New Brunswick. The role blends strategic HR leadership with day-to-day execution across people operations, HR systems, recruiting support, compliance, and organizational support.
The successful candidate will work closely with leaders and managers to create People processes that are scalable, consistent, and compliant as the company continues to grow.
What you will handle
You will partner with leadership on organizational structure, workforce planning, team design, performance management, employee relations, and overall team effectiveness. You will also help spot structural gaps and implement improvements that strengthen alignment across the business.
You will support hiring managers by shaping job roles, defining responsibilities, improving job descriptions, refining interview processes, and enhancing the candidate journey. You will also handle offers and support a smooth onboarding experience.
You will help maintain a strong employee experience by ensuring that expectations, management practices, and development processes stay aligned. You will also build feedback mechanisms that surface how teams are functioning and where improvements are needed.
You will manage salary bands and leveling structures, assist with compensation reviews and market benchmarking, and help maintain consistency across employees in Canada and the U.S.
You will own the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, performance management, offboarding, employee records, and core People processes. In addition, you will act as a primary contact for employee and manager questions.
You will oversee HR operations and compliance, including adherence to Canadian employment law and relevant U.S. federal and state requirements. You will own HR policies, documentation, audit readiness, and support accurate payroll-related employee data in partnership with accounting.
You will also manage Rippling, including employee data, workflows, reporting, and data accuracy, while helping build dependable People Operations infrastructure that can scale with the company.
What success looks like
Success in this role means People processes are clearly defined, consistently followed, and reliably run. Hiring is structured in a way that supports growth, managers are equipped to lead effectively, employees understand performance expectations and compensation structure, and People Operations functions smoothly as the organization scales.
