Job description
About OLIPOP
OLIPOP is on a mission to improve consumer health at scale by rethinking soda. The brand was built to deliver a drink that tastes familiar and refreshing while also offering functional benefits.
The company’s origin is tied to its CEO, Co-Founder, and Formulator, Ben Goodwin, whose personal health journey sparked an interest in nutrition, the gut microbiome, and science-led approaches to wellness. That curiosity eventually led to the idea of creating a better-for-you soda that could fit into everyday life.
After years of exploration and formulation, the first OLIPOP cans launched in 2018. The product was designed to provide more fiber and less sugar than typical soda, with 6 to 9 grams of fiber and 2 to 5 grams of sugar, while keeping the classic soda experience intact.
OLIPOP describes its culture as rooted in empathy, integrity, and a belief that businesses can do good. The team aims to build products and a company that support health, reflect humanistic values, and bring people together.
The Role
OLIPOP is hiring a People Operations Generalist to manage the core day-to-day work of the People Ops function. This person will own essential operational areas such as payroll, benefits, leave administration, workers’ compensation, and HRIS management, while also helping improve systems and processes alongside People Team leadership.
The position is a strong fit for someone who enjoys detailed operational work, likes solving problems creatively, and takes pride in building scalable processes. It also offers room to grow within a collaborative People Team as the company continues to expand.
Key Responsibilities
- Run bi-monthly payroll accurately, including data updates, reporting, and pay-change reviews, while making sure all compliance requirements are satisfied.
- Handle onboarding and offboarding tasks so employees receive a smooth, consistent, and high-quality experience, and look for practical ways to automate steps where possible while staying compliant across the states where the company operates.
- Work with the benefits broker to manage employee benefits, respond to employee questions, and support annual enrollment.
- Maintain the company’s HRIS, ADP, with complete data accuracy, produce standard and custom reports, and learn how the system can be configured to meet changing business needs.
- Support HRIS implementation and transition work by managing data entry, migration, testing, documentation, and coordination as new systems are introduced.
- Partner with the leave management vendor to support employee leaves of absence, explain leave policies and procedures, collect required forms, and record leave information in the HRIS.
- Administer workers’ compensation processes, file claims, and coordinate with employees, managers, and claims adjusters so cases move forward efficiently and employees receive proper support.
- Assist with performance review cycles in performance management software by setting up timelines, tracking milestones, and moving the process through each stage.
- Help maintain compliance across multiple states by keeping records current, supporting required filings and registrations, and staying informed about applicable regulations.
- Create, update, and maintain HR policies in partnership with People Team leadership so they remain clear, compliant, and aligned with business needs.
- Contribute to process design and continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to strengthen and scale People Ops workflows.
- Collaborate closely with the People Operations team to provide reliable support and service to employees across OLIPOP.
Qualifications
- 4 to 6 years of practical experience in People Operations or HR operations, including direct ownership of payroll; multi-state experience is a strong advantage.
- Proven experience improving processes, such as contributing to SOPs, audits, or system enhancements.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work accurately in a compliance-sensitive payroll environment.
- Self-directed approach to core responsibilities, with good judgment about when to align with or escalate to the broader team.
- Excellent organization, reliability, and process discipline, with consistent and proactive communication on status and progress.
- Comfort handling ambiguity, making sound decisions, and solving non-routine problems through experience and reasoning.
- Strong confidentiality and discretion when working with sensitive employee and business information.
- Clear, empathetic, and firm communication skills across written, verbal, one-on-one, and group settings.
- Strong spreadsheet capability in Microsoft tools, including data manipulation, formulas, and calculations; macro knowledge is a plus.
- Experience with collaboration tools such as Slack and Teams is preferred.
- Experience with ADP is considered an advantage.
Work Environment
This is a fully remote role. OLIPOP emphasizes intentional connection across a distributed team through cross-functional work, offsites, and regular collaboration across time zones.
The company values trust, transparency, thoughtful feedback, and a high-performance culture where people are encouraged to stay curious, contribute ideas, and grow together.
Values and Culture
- Mission Connectivity: Work should stay tied to the broader goal of supporting human health.
- Indomitable Spirit: The team values creativity, adaptability, and resourcefulness when challenges arise.
- Lead at Every Level: Ownership and initiative matter more than title or seniority.
- Courageous Humility: Confidence should be paired with curiosity, openness, and a willingness to learn.
