About the Role

The role of People Advisor supports the People Partnering team in a dynamic environment, focusing on employee relations while enhancing managerial capabilities and assisting with essential HR processes. The position requires working closely with People Partners to deliver effective people management support, particularly in high-volume areas, and promoting improvements in workplace outcomes. This on-site role involves regularly engaging with managers and employees to understand and address challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the initial contact for managers on various employee relations (ER) issues, offering timely and practical guidance.
  • Manage comprehensive formal ER procedures including organizing meetings, preparing documents, taking detailed minutes, ensuring follow-up actions, and maintaining records.
  • Provide assistance in investigations, disciplinary hearings, grievance handling, probation evaluations, flexible working requests, and performance management plans.
  • Support management of sickness absences, both short-term and long-term, and address unauthorized absences.
  • Arrange and support welfare meetings and coordinate with Occupational Health services, ensuring appropriate follow-up.
  • Collaborate with Wellbeing and Safeguarding teams to handle sensitive wellbeing cases.
  • Assist People Partners with complex ER cases and maintain accurate ER records and logs.
  • Analyze ER trends and escalate pertinent insights, while promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion through inclusive practices.
  • Partner with People and Learning & Development teams to design and deliver training, coach managers, and provide day-to-day management guidance.
  • Develop and share tools and resources to facilitate effective people management, supporting performance review processes and pay reviews alongside relevant teams.
  • Aid in recruitment activities by helping with role requisitions and overseeing resourcing processes.
  • Provide analysis on key workforce metrics and contribute to engagement initiatives and departmental goal setting.
  • Deliver high-quality administrative support to the People team and take part in exit interview processes.
  • Represent the People function in cross-departmental meetings and keep up-to-date with industry best practices and organisational developments.
  • Ensure consistent and fair application of policies across the business.

Performance Objectives

  • Establish and maintain strong, credible relationships with managers, employees, and People team members to support effective collaboration.
  • Manage employee relations cases thoroughly, accurately, and in a compliant manner to minimise risk.
  • Deliver consistent, professional support throughout ER processes, ensuring positive experiences for all parties involved.
  • Enhance managers’ confidence and competence in people management through coaching and training.
  • Maintain accuracy and quality across multiple responsibilities, adapting to evolving business demands.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Previous experience in a People or HR advisor role.
  • Solid knowledge of Employee Relations procedures and employment legislation.
  • Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail, especially in managing documentation.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced setting.
  • Strong communication skills for building relationships and providing clear advice.
  • Discretion and ability to manage confidential matters sensitively.
  • CIPD qualification or progress towards it is preferred.
  • Experience in commercial, retail, or hospitality sectors is advantageous.

Additional Information

This position is a permanent, full-time role requiring 35 hours a week based at Stamford Bridge, London.
