Job description

Position Overview

As a Payroll Specialist in Ulm, you will support employees across Germany with accurate and careful payroll operations. This role sits at the intersection of HR and Corporate Finance and plays an important part in protecting compliance and data accuracy within a fast-moving, internationally connected environment.

Trimble Inc. is a global technology company that connects the physical and digital worlds through precise positioning, modeling, and data analytics. Its solutions help reshape work across construction, geospatial, and transportation sectors. Corporate functions at Trimble provide strategic support in finance, human resources, legal, and technology, forming the foundation for innovation and long-term operational success.

You will act as a key link between People Experience (HR) and Corporate Finance, handling core payroll activities for German legal entities while helping maintain compliance and data integrity across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end payroll processing for German entities, ensuring calculations are accurate, compliant, and completed on time.
  • Maintain smooth data exchange between the HRIS (Workday) and CloudPay, including regular monitoring and report review.
  • Coordinate closely with external payroll providers and public authorities to support reliable compliance and clean reporting.
  • Prepare monthly accruals, deferrals, and balance sheet reconciliations, while supporting the relevant SOX controls.
  • Contribute to the improvement of payroll workflows and support change initiatives, including areas such as TOP, ESPP, and RSU.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable and service-oriented contact for employee payroll questions.

Candidate Profile

  • Strong hands-on experience in German payroll administration, along with very good knowledge of labor law, tax law, and social security regulations.
  • Confident communication skills in both German and English at C1 level, with the ability to work effectively in an international setting.
  • Experience with modern payroll platforms, ideally CloudPay, and HR systems such as Workday.
  • Analytical and numbers-oriented mindset, with initial exposure to complex reporting and accounting topics such as accruals or journal entries.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience working in a publicly listed company, such as one listed on NASDAQ or S&P.
  • Familiarity with payroll handling for share-based programs such as RSU or ESPP.
  • Proactive, solution-focused mindset and a genuine interest in continuous process improvement.

Location

This position is based in Ulm, Baden-Württemberg, Germany.
