Role Overview
Interfor is looking to add a Payroll Specialist to its Canadian payroll team in Grand Forks, British Columbia. This position focuses on delivering accurate, on-time payroll for employees in British Columbia and ensuring payroll activities align with labour legislation, employee policies, collective agreements, and workforce data throughout the employee journey. The portfolio for this position covers BC operations, and the selected candidate may be based at a Southern Interior mill site or at the corporate office in Burnaby, BC.
What You Will Do
- Run full-cycle payroll for assigned locations and companies, including checks, reconciliations, and year-end tax reporting.
- Oversee time and attendance data by validating, reconciling, and correcting records so payroll deadlines are met.
- Work with operations teams to fix timekeeping issues and improve controls around time capture.
- Maintain employee lifecycle records such as hires, exits, position changes, and leaves, and ensure these flow correctly into payroll systems.
- Keep standard operating procedures and payroll documentation current while following privacy rules and employment legislation.
- Apply union agreements, employee handbooks, and pay practices in day-to-day payroll work, especially in site-based and unionized environments.
- Answer employee questions about pay and partner with HR and Finance to resolve payroll concerns.
- Support payroll system upkeep, testing, and process improvements, and look for ways to increase efficiency.
- Contribute to a cooperative and accountable team culture by sharing knowledge and helping colleagues maintain payroll accuracy.

Compensation and Benefits
The annual salary for this role is between CAD 72,000 and CAD 89,000, depending on experience, skills, and qualifications. The overall package may also include the following benefits:

Requirements
- Minimum two years of full-cycle payroll experience handling both salaried and hourly staff.
- Unionized payroll experience is required.
- Manufacturing experience is considered an advantage.
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in accounting, payroll, or business administration, or equivalent practical experience.
- PCP or CPM certification is helpful but not required.
- Prior use of payroll and time/attendance systems is required.
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now and UKG Pro / Workforce Management is preferred.
