Role overview

TC Group is a fast-expanding accountancy and business advisory firm in the UK, with more than 30 years of experience supporting ambitious business owners and their organisations. The company is looking to add a Payroll Officer to its Kent office as the payroll team continues to grow.

This is a permanent full-time position within a collaborative, established team. The role suits someone who can manage payroll work accurately, deal confidently with client queries, and support payroll administration across a range of client types.

What you will do

  • Plan and organise your workload so payrolls are completed accurately and on time for clients.
  • Process payrolls for a variety of client profiles.
  • Handle pension administration across different pension schemes.
  • Check payrolls prepared by other team members.
  • Communicate with payroll clients and deal with HMRC on their behalf.
  • Use payroll legislation knowledge to respond to client questions effectively.

Skills and experience needed

  • At least 3 years of payroll experience, preferably gained in an accountancy practice or bureau.
  • CIPP qualification, or an interest in studying toward it.
  • Hands-on experience with Sage 50 Payroll.
  • Strong Microsoft Office and Excel capability.
  • A relevant payroll qualification, or equivalent experience gained through practice.
  • Clear communication and strong interpersonal ability.
  • Excellent organisation, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • A professional approach to confidentiality and discretion.
  • Ability to perform well in a busy, high-pressure, fast-moving environment.
