Through its hospitality arm, Udaan Hotels and Resorts, the group works to provide smooth travel and hospitality services across India. This role is for a Payroll Accountant who will help manage payroll activities across the group companies.

Role Summary

The Payroll Accountant will be responsible for end-to-end payroll handling, statutory and tax-related compliance, GST-support accounting tasks, salary reconciliation, and payroll accounting. The role calls for someone who is precise, dependable, and well-versed in payroll processes, accounting fundamentals, taxation, GST rules, and labor legislation, while maintaining strict confidentiality around employee pay information.

Key Responsibilities

  • Run the monthly payroll cycle accurately and complete it within the required timelines.
  • Keep updated payroll records covering pay structure, attendance, leave, incentives, reimbursements, and deductions.
  • Monitor compliance with PF, ESI, PT, TDS, gratuity, labor law provisions, and GST requirements.
  • Prepare payroll summaries, salary registers, GST-related records, and accounting entries, then reconcile them.
  • Support GST preparation work, invoice checks, reconciliation activities, and coordination for filing.
  • Work with HR on onboarding, employee separations, salary changes, and final settlement processing.
  • Calculate full and final settlements for employees who leave the organization.
  • Review attendance, leave balances, overtime, and variable pay inputs before payroll is processed.
  • Respond to employee payroll questions and resolve issues promptly.
  • Create payslips, tax statements, GST reports, and statutory filing documents as required.
  • Match payroll records against finance books and bank statements.
  • Protect the privacy and confidentiality of payroll and employee data.
  • Assist with internal and external audits connected to payroll, taxes, and compliance.
  • Ensure salaries and statutory dues are paid on time.

Candidate Requirements

  • A B.Com degree is compulsory for this position.
  • Applicants should have 2 to 5 years of experience in payroll processing and payroll accounting.
  • Hands-on familiarity with GST compliance, invoicing, and reconciliation is needed.
  • Strong understanding of payroll systems, labor laws, and statutory obligations is required.
  • Prior use of HRMS or payroll tools such as KEKA, Darwinbox, SAP, Oracle, or equivalent platforms is preferred.
  • Good working knowledge of TDS, PF, ESI, Professional Tax, GST, and payroll taxation is expected.
  • Strong capability in analysis and reconciliation is important.
  • Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy are essential.
  • Clear communication and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Comfort with Microsoft Excel and accounting software is necessary.
