Patient Transporter

About the Role

Crothall Healthcare is looking to add patient transporters for both full-time and part-time schedules at South Georgia Medical Center Health in Valdosta, Georgia. This role centers on moving patients, medical equipment, and related items safely and promptly within the hospital, while supporting a caring and respectful patient experience.

Work Schedule and Location

The position is based at 2501 North Patterson Street, Valdosta, GA 31602. Only online applications are accepted. Shifts are 8 hours long, with full-time and part-time options available. Current scheduling windows include Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm and weekends from 7:00 am to 5:30 pm. Additional schedule details will be shared during the interview.

What You’ll Do

You will be responsible for transporting patients safely and accurately to their destinations, while making sure equipment and patient-related items are handled properly. The role also involves close communication with clinical and support teams, maintaining equipment, and responding quickly to any patient concerns.

Key Responsibilities

• Move patients safely and securely, including managing IVs, drainage tubes, and other attached equipment.
• Use wheelchairs and other approved transport equipment as required.
• Handle patients across different age groups with appropriate care and competency.
• Complete transports accurately and on time using the correct equipment.
• Stay in contact with nursing staff, clinicians, technicians, reception, and dispatch as needed.
• Support patient comfort by being attentive, offering blankets when appropriate, protecting modesty, and keeping conversation professional.
• Do not transport patients who are in severe pain.
• Report any signs of distress or equipment issues to nursing staff right away.
• Keep transport equipment in good condition and report anything needing repair.
• Follow all applicable federal, state, and JCAHO regulations.
• Respect confidentiality and patient rights in line with facility HIPAA policies and procedures.
• Carry out other related duties when assigned.

Required Experience

Prior experience in home health or assisted living is preferred.
