Role overview

Children's Health Queensland Hospital and Health Service is inviting expressions of interest for upcoming Patient Support Services opportunities at Queensland Children's Hospital. This EOI is intended for future vacancies only; if a suitable opening comes up, shortlisted candidates may be contacted by the team.

What the role involves

The position supports hospital operations by carrying out cleaning and portering tasks across Queensland Children's Hospital and nearby facilities, including the Centre for Children’s Health Research (CCHR), Bank Building, and Queensland Children's Hospital Energy Plant (QCHEP). The job also includes a variety of general support duties within the hospital precinct, along with providing customer service that reflects empathy, patience, understanding, and a positive approach.

Cleaning and infection control duties

  • Carry out routine and periodic cleaning across clinical and non-clinical environments in line with hospital procedures, infection control standards, and Strategic Operational Services Unit requirements.
  • Clean both high- and low-touch areas, which may include walls, floors, bathrooms, windows, ceilings, furniture, and fixtures.
  • Perform tasks such as sweeping, dusting, vacuuming, buffing, and scrubbing, including work in infectious environments when required.
  • Use digital tools and platforms such as iClean to log additional tasks and keep track of cleaning progress.

Portering and support services

  • Provide porterage support across the Queensland Children's Hospital precinct.
  • Undertake a broad range of support services that help keep hospital operations running smoothly.

Team context

The Patient Support Services team brings together seven key service units that work closely to maintain a safe and efficient healthcare setting. These include Cleaning, Linen, Waste, Porterage, and the Help Desk, with each unit playing a part in hygiene, logistics, communication, and service coordination.
