Role overview
Bay Leadership Academy is seeking a Pastoral Associate to take on the internal post title of Head of Year. The role focuses on strengthening student wellbeing, engagement, and achievement through coordinated pastoral support.
What the role involves
- Provide effective pastoral guidance so students and groups of students are able to participate fully in learning and make the most of their potential.
- Contribute to raising school standards by leading pastoral support for a year group and supporting individual students and their families within that cohort.
- Identify and respond to students who need help removing barriers to learning, enabling them to achieve their best.
- Support improvements in punctuality, attendance, and behaviour.
- Work with the school’s pastoral programme to reduce disruption and help improve student achievement and progress.
What we are looking for
- Five GCSEs, including English and Maths, at grade 9-4 / A*-C.
- Previous experience working with young people in an educational environment.
- Prior experience providing pastoral support in an education setting.
- Strong relationship-building skills with both students and adults.
- Confidence speaking to large student audiences as well as smaller staff groups.
