Role Overview

Buffalo Trail Public Schools is looking for a dedicated educator to join Mannville School, a K–12 learning community where student wellbeing, inclusive practice, and strong relationships are central. This role offers the chance to teach in a rural setting that values collaboration, growth, and education that reflects rural life.

Position Details

  • Start date: August 26, 2026
  • End date: June 29, 2027
  • School location: Mannville School, Mannville, Alberta
  • Assignment: Elementary Generalist for Grades 5 and 6
  • Contract type: Part-time probationary
  • Workload: 0.75 FTE

What You Will Be Expected to Do

  • Support inclusive learning by planning for diverse student needs and working collaboratively to help every learner succeed.
  • Use assessment for learning and student evidence to shape instruction; familiarity with UFLI, Heggerty, and the Science of Reading is considered an advantage.
  • Build respectful, positive connections with students, families, and coworkers, while helping strengthen school-home partnerships and participation in school life.
  • Create engaging learning experiences that are suited to the developmental needs of students and support academic, social, and emotional growth.

Qualifications and Professional Expectations

  • Hold a valid Alberta Teaching Certificate.
  • Bring a student-focused approach that prioritizes safe, caring, high-quality learning.
  • Have experience or training in assessment for learning, including both formative and summative methods.
  • Be comfortable using Google Workspace for Education and other learning technologies to communicate, collaborate, and support students.
  • Help foster belonging and positive relationships within the classroom and school.
  • Work well with others and contribute effectively as part of a team.
  • Demonstrate ongoing professional growth and reflective practice aligned with the Alberta Teaching Quality Standard.
  • Willingness to support extracurricular activities and the wider school community is an asset.

About Mannville School

Mannville School serves about 215 students in a K–12 setting. Its smaller size supports close connections, personalized support, and opportunities for students to Learn and Lead. Students have access to literacy and numeracy foundations, field experiences, CTS programming, RAP, Green Certificate, Work Experience, and Dual Credit options through Lakeland College. The school council and surrounding community play an active role in helping students stay engaged and successful.

Mannville is a progressive community of approximately 765 people in Alberta’s heartland. It offers a welcoming small-town atmosphere along with amenities such as a recreation centre, ball diamonds, and large affordable residential lots.
