Job description
Introduction
IBM Consulting offers a career path centered on enduring client partnerships and close teamwork across the globe. In this role, you will support organizations from multiple industries as they advance hybrid cloud and AI initiatives. Backed by IBM technology, strategic partners, and Red Hat, you will have the resources to help create measurable business impact and meaningful transformation.
The environment values curiosity, fresh thinking, and a growth mindset. You will be encouraged to question standard approaches, develop practical solutions, and contribute to long-term career growth in a culture that recognizes both empathy and individual experience.
Role overview
This position focuses on PeopleSoft HR/Payroll support, with a particular emphasis on payroll deductions and related setup, analysis, and troubleshooting. The work involves investigating technical issues, validating payroll behavior, and supporting quality assurance activities in complex application management environments.
Key responsibilities
You will analyze and resolve technical issues across PeopleSoft HR/Payroll processes, especially those related to deductions and payroll configuration. The role also requires hands-on work with SQL, defect investigation, and communication with cross-functional teams to support accurate payroll outcomes.
Testing and analysis
Support SIT, FUT, and CAT testing by preparing test cases, checking outcomes, and documenting technical observations. You will also perform root-cause analysis across HR, Job Data, Compensation, and Confirm processes, then translate findings into practical resolution steps.
Required expertise
Strong hands-on experience with PeopleSoft HR/Payroll is essential, particularly in payroll deductions and troubleshooting configuration issues. You should be comfortable using SQL, independently analyzing defects, and preparing technically sound solutions.
Preferred experience
Helpful additional experience includes bilingual communication in French and English, exposure to the Phoenix Pay System, or work on large Canadian federal PeopleSoft implementations. Familiarity with PeopleSoft Tools such as Application Designer, Query, Integration Broker, and Application Engine is also desirable.
Experience with complex payroll situations, including acting assignments, subsequent rows, and multi-job deductions, is valued. Knowledge of payroll batch processing, job stream dependencies, AMS operating models, governance practices, and structured defect management will be an advantage.
Education
A bachelor’s degree is preferred for this position.
