Role Overview

The P5CTS Pod Technician / Display & Debriefing Subsystem Operator will be accountable for the tracking, upkeep, testing, and operational support of P5 Combat Training System pods and related subsystems. The position plays a key part in keeping the mission ready by maintaining records accurately, carrying out maintenance work, operating the system, and supporting aircrew and site leadership directly.

Key Duties

Pod control and records

  • Track every P5CTS pod moving in and out of the pod shop, recording the serial number, pod type, date, time, and relevant remarks.
  • Keep an up-to-date daily log showing pod status and availability.
  • Maintain a database covering service schedules, due dates, and completed maintenance actions.
  • Manage control records for Data Recorder Device issuance and returns.
  • Safeguard mission tapes and related documentation.
  • Maintain a mission event register with clear entries for date, time, mission or event, remarks, and operator details.

Maintenance and technical work

  • Run and maintain the P5CTS Test Set in line with the applicable technical manuals.
  • Carry out organizational-level and intermediate-level maintenance testing.
  • Remove and replace Shop Replaceable Assemblies when needed.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are documented correctly and completed on schedule.

Display and debrief operations

  • Load operating and test software as required.
  • Perform subsystem checks to confirm readiness for use.
  • Load pre-mission exercise information into the Data Recorder Device.
  • Operate graphics terminals during live exercises and support display/control functions.
  • Assist aircrew with mission replay and debrief setup.
  • Work directly with aircrew to review sortie effectiveness.
  • Coordinate with support teams to report SPEAR/ICADS faults and verify that software updates are installed properly.
  • Take on additional operational tasks assigned by the Site Supervisor.

Reporting and compliance

  • Submit monthly mission data to the Site Lead for reporting purposes.
  • Follow company policies and procedures, including the Code of Conduct, Quality, Security, and Occupational Health, Safety, and Environmental requirements.
  • Complete other duties assigned by management when reasonably required.

Minimum Requirements

  • Background in a comparable technical position within a military setting.
  • Capability to provide on-the-job training when needed.
  • Working knowledge of IT tools, including MS Office and test software.
  • Ability to understand electrical wiring diagrams and schematics.
  • Hands-on experience with electronic tools and diagnostic or test equipment.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work in confined spaces.

Preferred Experience

  • Military leadership training.
  • Exposure to network administration.
  • Previous work experience in the Middle East or in deployed environments.

Education and Certifications

  • Two-year college qualification in a technical field, or an equivalent technical background supported by relevant military experience.
  • Valid driving license.
  • Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance, or the ability to obtain one.
  • An Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline is preferred.

  • This role falls under International Traffic in Arms Regulations, so nationality may influence eligibility.
