Role overview
The OR Scheduler supports the coordination of elective surgical bookings for the operating room, endoscopy, and anesthesia-only cases performed outside the OR. This role excludes labor and delivery at Women’s and Children and the cath lab. In addition to scheduling work, the position helps physicians and team members as needed, keeps communication flowing smoothly, maintains an organized and safe office setting, and assists with onboarding new employees.
Education
A high school diploma or GED is required.
Experience
Applicants should have at least 1 year of prior work in a secretarial, receptionist, or customer service position. Background in a medical environment is preferred.
Skills and abilities
The job calls for strong verbal and written communication, solid computer proficiency, and comfort using office communication tools such as telephones and fax machines. A strong service mindset is essential, along with the ability to interact respectfully with people from varied backgrounds. Candidates must be able to manage time well, keep work organized, meet deadlines, set priorities, delegate when needed, and stay effective in a fast-moving, high-pressure setting. Attention to detail, problem-solving, negotiation, and basic keyboard/personal computer use are also important.
