Overview
This role is for an optometrist responsible for accurate dispensing, fitting, and clinical support in an optical retail environment. The position combines eye testing, customer guidance, product advice, inventory coordination, reporting, and quality checks to support both patient care and store operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and dispense precise prescriptions, and ensure spectacles, contact lenses, and other optical aids are fitted correctly.
- Carry out refraction and related assessments to understand and address customer needs.
- Guide customers on lens options, frame selection, styling choices, contact lens fitting and care, as well as the use of low-vision aids.
- Support adjustments and minor repairs for spectacles.
- Monitor stock levels for lenses and optical products, and share purchase inputs when needed.
- Prepare routine qualitative and quantitative updates for management covering sales, stock movement, and customer preference trends.
- Maintain accurate quality standards for eye measurements and dispensing practices.
- Review opticians’ fitting and dispensing work periodically and maintain audit records.
- Serve as the escalation point for opticians in cases that need more advanced consultation.
- Welcome customers professionally, explain the available products and services, and introduce the free six-step eye test offering.
- Recommend suitable products based on customer requirements and expected benefits.
- Help ensure delivery timelines are met and after-sales support remains prompt.
- Confirm that back-end operational tasks are completed according to schedule.
- Escalate unresolved issues or disputes to the store manager when needed.
