Role overview
The Sanitation Operator at the Brantford, Ontario bakery is responsible for making sure sanitation work is completed safely, accurately, and in line with food safety, quality, and regulatory expectations. The position helps keep the production environment clean, compliant, and ready for daily operations, audits, inspections, and tours.
Shift and schedule
- 12-hour rotating continental shift
- Working hours: 5:45 AM to 6:00 PM, and 5:45 PM to 6:00 AM
- Rotation pattern: 2 weeks on day shifts followed by 2 weeks on night shifts, though the schedule may change
Compensation
The hourly pay range is $28.41 to $29.56.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out sanitation procedures according to SSOPs to support food safety and compliance
- Keep production lines clean through both routine cleaning and more thorough deep-cleaning tasks
- Use sanitation tools and equipment safely, and report problems as soon as they arise
- Work closely with other team members so sanitation tasks are finished properly and on time
- Record sanitation work carefully and consistently
- Spot safety hazards, operational issues, or risks and raise them promptly
- Help prepare the plant for audits, inspections, and site tours
What you need
- High school diploma or GED
- Availability to work rotating continental day and night shifts
- Strong written and spoken English communication skills
- Ability to follow directions and work independently as well as with a team
- Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform repetitive tasks such as standing, bending, and climbing
- Dependable, punctual, and comfortable in a fast-moving work environment
- Clear criminal background check, or a pardoned record
Preferred background
- Experience in sanitation, cleaning, or food manufacturing settings
- Mechanical aptitude for basic troubleshooting and minor equipment adjustments
- Exposure to sanitation schedules and food safety standards
- Good interpersonal skills in a team-oriented environment
- Comfort working in industrial conditions such as cold, wet, or noisy environments
