Role Overview
Eni Trade & Biofuels is hiring an Operations Specialist for its Crude/Products team in Singapore on a permanent basis. In this position, you will support the full operational flow of commodity trades, working alongside traders, analysts, and other operations professionals. The job requires flexibility, including the ability to assist with other operational workstreams and handle urgent matters outside standard office hours when needed.
About the Team
Eni Trade & Biofuels (ETB) operates within Eni’s global energy business and focuses on crude oil, refined products, and biofuels trading and shipping. The team is spread across Rome, London, Singapore, and Houston, and is involved in marketing oil equity production, sourcing hydrocarbons and bio feedstocks, and managing output from both traditional and green refineries.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will coordinate daily operational activities connected to the execution of commodity contracts for bulk crude, light ends, products, tankers, and containers. You will work to ensure contractual and charter party obligations are completed accurately, schedules are aligned with trading goals, and all operational steps are carried out in line with company standards.
- Oversee the day-to-day operational execution of deal lifecycles for relevant oil trading activities.
- Make sure all contract and charter party commitments are fulfilled in line with Eni’s shipping and operational procedures.
- Coordinate supply, delivery, and loading schedules with both internal teams and external counterparties, including timely nominations of shipment and cargo date windows.
- Appoint inspection firms for cargo quantity and quality verification and monitor result consistency.
- Manage storage arrangements and perform stock reconciliations.
- Handle post-deal work such as customs clearance, demurrage, and claims, ensuring operational details are shared promptly.
- Record operational information accurately and on time in the trading and operations systems.
- Maintain records in accordance with internal controls and SOX requirements.
- Work closely with traders, charterers, shipping, invoicing, claims, demurrage, legal, and other internal stakeholders.
- Serve as a contact point for operational issues and contribute to team discussions to resolve and escalate matters.
- Support special operational requests originating from the trading team.
- Follow the Eni Code of Ethics and all applicable company policies at all times.
Skills and Experience
The ideal candidate should bring strong academic grounding, preferably with a numeracy-focused background, along with substantial experience in oil trading operations and multi-commodity management. Experience in biofuels or oil products will be an added advantage.
- Strong academic background with a quantitative or numeracy-based specialization.
- Extensive experience in an oil trading environment and in managing operations across multiple commodities.
- Working knowledge of commodity and vessel operations, including cargo handling, time charters, voyage charters, and ship operations.
- Ability to manage cargo documentation, bills of lading, inspection processes, letters of credit, demurrage, voyage orders, customs procedures, storage, ship-to-ship operations, blending, REACH requirements, and cargo insurance.
- Understanding of credit recovery procedures, operational controls, and compliance requirements.
- Strong analytical thinking, structured problem solving, and a practical approach to delivering results.
- Proactive, innovative, and efficient working style.
- High attention to detail and excellent organizational discipline.
- Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- Team-oriented, flexible, and adaptable mindset.
- Fluency in English.
