The opportunity
An opening is available for a dependable and energetic cleaner/day porter to join the team at Westhaven, Auckland, New Zealand. This part-time role suits someone who enjoys a busy environment, takes pride in detail, and contributes to clean, tidy, and welcoming spaces for clients and visitors.
Working schedule and pay
The position is part time, with shifts from Monday to Friday, 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The pay rate is NZD 27.50 per hour.
Key duties
- Carry out routine cleaning tasks to a consistently high standard.
- Handle spot cleaning of furnishings and surfaces when needed.
- Sweep and mop floors as part of regular upkeep.
- Clean toilets and maintain hygiene standards in amenities.
- Collect and dispose of rubbish.
- Clean glass surfaces, both inside and outside.
- Dust hard surfaces and keep work areas neat.
- Use cleaning equipment such as vacuums, i-mops, scrubbers, buffers, and sweepers where required.
- Review the communication book and update completed actions.
- Assist with collecting cups and dishes and keeping kitchen areas clean.
- Wipe desks, dust furniture and fittings, and maintain general presentation standards.
- Restock cutlery and dishes, and replenish amenities with consumables.
- Follow spill response procedures and use wet floor signage appropriately.
- Empty bins, manage scuff marks, and keep storage areas orderly.
- Monitor stock levels, top up beverages and coffee supplies, and clean the coffee machine as needed.
- Report health and safety concerns, maintenance issues, and stock-related matters while maintaining good communication with the client.
- Follow company policies, procedures, and timesheet requirements.
What the role calls for
The ideal candidate will bring previous cleaning experience, preferably in a commercial setting, along with a history of working well in a team. You should be able to follow instructions, work independently when needed, and maintain a strong eye for detail. Good customer service, reliability, punctuality, and clear communication in fluent English are important. A solid understanding of workplace health and safety practices is also expected.
Additional requirements and notes
Flexibility to work different hours and public holidays may be required. Experience with floor care equipment such as scrubbers, buffers, or sweepers will be considered an advantage. Applicants must have valid work rights in New Zealand.
