Job description
About the role
Silver Fern Farms is seeking a Non-Production Environment Lead to own the way non-production environments are governed, improved, and used across the organisation. The role reports to the Quality Engineering Practice Manager and is central to helping projects land successfully by making sure environments are available, suitable for purpose, and aligned with testing and business requirements.
In this position, you will work closely with delivery squads, infrastructure teams, architects, application support, and outside partners. Your focus will be on providing direction, transparency, and oversight for the environments that support technology transformation work as well as day-to-day operational delivery.
This is a two-year fixed-term opportunity created to support a significant technology transformation programme and a large volume of parallel projects that depend on well-managed non-production environments.
Key responsibilities
- Set the direction, controls, and improvement plan for non-production environments.
- Oversee planning, provisioning, scheduling, and day-to-day utilisation of environments.
- Coordinate environment access and allocation across projects and business-as-usual work.
- Maintain clear visibility of environment availability, usage patterns, and constraints.
- Work alongside delivery teams to support effective testing and successful release outcomes.
- Handle environment-related risks and issues while driving ongoing improvements.
- Keep environments secure, dependable, and consistent with production where needed.
Why this position matters
Silver Fern Farms is progressing a broad set of technology and business change initiatives. As delivery grows more complex and work streams increase, strong control of non-production environments becomes critical to keeping testing moving and projects advancing with confidence.
This newly created role brings the focus, governance, and coordination needed to support successful delivery across the technology landscape.
About you
The ideal candidate will bring experience in managing non-production environments, or the capability to step into that responsibility within a complex delivery setting. You should understand software delivery lifecycles, testing approaches, and the practical requirements of environment management.
You will be comfortable working across technical teams, vendors, and business stakeholders, and will have proven strength in planning, coordination, and stakeholder engagement. A continuous improvement mindset, combined with strong communication, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills, is essential.
Application information
Applications close on Tuesday, 14 July. The team will review applications as they arrive, so early submission is encouraged.
Silver Fern Farms values people from all backgrounds and life experiences. The company promotes an inclusive workplace and offers equal opportunity to all team members and applicants.
If you are motivated by enabling quality delivery and enjoy creating structure, visibility, and improvement in complex technology environments, this role may be a strong fit.
