Role overview

New Concept Technology is seeking a skilled Mold Designer to support its engineering team in Emigsville, PA. This role focuses on creating precise injection mold designs that help manufacture advanced plastic parts used across multiple industries. The position is ideal for someone who enjoys technical problem-solving, detailed design work, and close coordination with engineering and production teams.

What you will do

  • Create plastic injection mold designs using 3D CAD tools.
  • Produce detailed mold assemblies and manufacturing drawings.
  • Design essential mold elements such as cores, cavities, slides, lifters, cooling circuits, runners, and ejection mechanisms.
  • Examine customer part models and suggest design changes that improve manufacturability.
  • Work with engineering, tooling, manufacturing, and quality teams through the full mold development cycle.
  • Assist with mold tryouts, diagnosis of issues, and ongoing improvement efforts.
  • Apply engineering revisions and keep design records accurate and up to date.
  • Make sure mold designs align with customer expectations, internal standards, and production goals.

What we are looking for

  • An associate degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Drafting, Tool Design, or a similar discipline is preferred.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on injection mold design experience.
  • Comfort using 3D CAD platforms such as SolidWorks, Siemens NX, Creo, AutoCAD, or equivalent software.
  • Strong grasp of plastic injection molding principles.
  • Working knowledge of mold layout, cooling, gating, ejection, and tooling components.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and understand GD&T.
  • Strong analytical thinking and excellent attention to detail.
  • Good communication and collaboration skills.

Additional experience that will help

  • Background in automotive, medical device, or high-volume manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with Moldflow or similar simulation tools.
  • Exposure to hot runner mold design.
  • Understanding of automation and robotic part handling systems.
