Job description

About the Role

Bank of New Zealand is seeking a mobile home lending professional to join its expanding home loans team in the Waikato region. In this customer-facing role, you will work across the community, offering expert guidance on home lending and supporting customers through the complete journey from early discussions and pre-approval through to approval, drawdown, and post-settlement support.

The role is suited to someone with solid home lending experience, the confidence to originate and convert opportunities, and an existing local network that can be used to generate quality referrals and leads. You will represent BNZ in the market, build trust with customers and introducers, and help strengthen the bank’s mobile presence across the region.

What You’ll Do

  • Create new home lending opportunities through your relationships, referrals, and local presence.
  • Develop strong, trusted connections with customers, introducers, and community contacts across the region.
  • Support customers through the full home loan process, from pre-approval to drawdown.
  • Prepare high-quality credit applications and partner with internal teams to progress approvals.
  • Track down and follow up leads, understand customer needs, and deliver a smooth experience at each stage.
  • Help people take meaningful steps toward achieving home ownership.

What Makes This Role Exciting

This is a chance to be part of a major life milestone for customers as they move from considering a home to owning one. Home lending is deeply personal, and your advice and expertise can have a direct impact on that journey. You will have the independence to grow BNZ’s mobile home lending presence in the region while being backed by a strong brand and a capable team.

What We’re Looking For

We are after someone who is passionate about home lending and confident supporting customers throughout the full process, from early engagement to settlement. Because this is an acquisition-led position, you should be proactive, comfortable networking in the market, and able to turn relationships into lending opportunities.

The ideal candidate will bring deep home lending knowledge, a strong grasp of credit assessment, and the ability to manage applications end to end. You should also have an established regional network, strong referral-building ability, and a relationship-focused approach that helps you grow your personal profile.

Attention to detail is essential, along with a genuine commitment to getting the details right for customers the first time. A practical understanding of the local property market is also important, including new builds, property development, and turnkey lending opportunities.

Working Arrangements

This role covers customers throughout the region, so you must be comfortable travelling and meeting people where it suits them best. BNZ provides a company vehicle, and you must hold a clean, full driver licence.

Benefits and Workplace Culture

BNZ describes its workplace as collaborative, energetic, and innovation-focused, with an agile environment built around creative problem-solving. The bank also places strong emphasis on wellbeing, flexible working, and career growth, with opportunities to learn and develop.

Staff benefits include six weeks of annual leave, flexible working options, wellbeing support, and banking and insurance benefits. The organisation also values its people, customers, and communities, and aims to support a balanced and meaningful career.

Team Environment

The home lending team operates in a fast-paced, high-demand environment. Despite the pace, the team is described as supportive, generous, and collaborative, with a culture of sharing knowledge, celebrating success, and helping one another achieve strong results. You will have autonomy in the field while staying connected to a high-performing team.

Additional Information

The internal official title for this position is Home Loan Partner. Applications are reviewed throughout the advertising period, and the employer may close the vacancy early.
