Role Summary

The Microwave Rigger will be responsible for the end-to-end installation of microwave radio systems, with a strong focus on completing every link safely, accurately, and on schedule. The role requires careful adherence to job documentation, quality standards, and site procedures.

Key Duties

• Carry out full installation of microwave radio equipment.
• Work strictly in line with the documentation provided for each link so the task is completed correctly and within the required timeframe.
• Verify equipment before delivery to confirm the correct radio configuration, antenna size, and related specifications.
• Install microwave antennas and outdoor units.
• Run and install RF cabling and earthing systems.
• Install indoor equipment.
• Carry out system alignment and testing.
• Apply all required labels and identification marks.
• Capture photographs for job records and documentation.
• Complete all site paperwork accurately.
• Ensure every activity complies with health and safety requirements.
• Follow site-specific risk assessments and method statements at all times.

Experience Required

Applicants should have at least 2 years of experience working as a microwave rigger. Exposure to microwave equipment installation across different OEMs is expected. Practical experience working at height, including rooftops, masts, and water towers, is also needed, along with a solid understanding of microwave transmission networks.

Training and Technical Background

Preferred background includes rooftop training, safe climbing, first aid, RF awareness, tower rescue, and a higher national qualification such as an HNC or equivalent.

Personal Attributes

The ideal candidate should be a dependable team player with strong attention to detail and a flexible approach to work.

Additional Information

Candidates should ideally have their own toolkit, PPE, laptop, and, if possible, an RF monitor, as these are required for the role.

Experience with Specific Equipment

Hands-on experience with Ericsson and SIAE microwave equipment would be an advantage.
