Job description
Overview
Labcorp is hiring a technologist for its Micro department in Overland Park, Kansas. This is a part-time PRN position focused on supporting clinical laboratory testing and helping deliver accurate results that contribute to patient care.
What you will do
- Check whether incoming specimens meet testing criteria before they are processed.
- Carry out routine and advanced technical laboratory procedures following departmental SOPs.
- Use, monitor, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments to keep them functioning properly.
- Apply sound technical judgment when testing issues or unusual situations arise.
- Set up, evaluate, and test new reagents and controls.
- Record and communicate test results accurately and on time.
- Complete preventive maintenance tasks and quality control documentation.
- Keep bench supplies stocked and replace items as needed.
- Support specimen processing when workload requires additional help.
- Follow safety practices and use appropriate personal protective equipment.
Minimum qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in a chemical science, biological science, clinical laboratory science, or medical technology.
- At least 1 year of clinical laboratory testing experience, or an MLS degree.
Preferred background
- Prior or current experience with Labcorp.
- ASCP or AMT certification.
- 6 months or more of microbiology experience.
Additional job expectations
- Comfortable using computers and familiar with laboratory information systems.
- Able to work independently as well as collaborate with a team.
- Strong attention to detail, communication ability, and organizational skills.
- Must be able to pass a standardized color vision test.
- Flexible to work overtime or alternate shifts based on business needs.

Employees scheduled for fewer than 20 hours per week, as well as casual, intern, and temporary employees, are eligible only for the 401(k) plan.
