Merchandiser/Cashier

Role Overview

This position combines merchandising and cashiering duties at the front of the store in De Ridder, Louisiana. The associate will help customers find products, support the parts team when needed, ring up purchases, maintain a neat and well-stocked sales floor, and help discourage shoplifting.

Primary Duties

As a merchandiser, the role focuses on keeping the front end of the store organized, attractive, and ready for customers. As a cashier, the role supports fast, courteous checkout service and handles returns as needed.

Merchandising Duties

• Welcome customers on the sales floor and help them locate products, or direct them to a parts specialist when hard parts are needed.
• Receive incoming stock, label it with prices, and place it on the sales floor.
• Keep display areas filled, faced, and clean throughout the day.
• Update displays in line with company standards, planograms, and other merchandising instructions.
• Apply all price updates at the front of the store.
• Ensure promotional signs are displayed correctly, keep the sales flyer rack stocked, and maintain enough featured merchandise on display.
• Remove promotional materials when a sale ends and restore standard pricing.
• Support stock adjustments, cycle counts, and returns of excess inventory.
• Work with the manager to complete the store to-do list and weekly team tasks.
• Act as the primary deterrent for shoplifting and help maintain front-of-store security.
• Assist with Image Maker responsibilities as assigned.
• Follow company policy for clocking in and out.

Cashier Duties

• Process purchases of front-floor merchandise in a prompt and courteous way.
• Handle customer returns efficiently and with a friendly approach.
• When the express lane is unavailable and the counter is busy, help complete tickets and accept cash, checks, and credit cards.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience

The job calls for comfort with number sequences, strong people skills, and good organization. Prior experience in cashiering or stocking is preferred. The ability to drive a manual transmission vehicle is also desired. Fluency in more than one language, especially Spanish, is highly valued.
