Role overview
Greyson Clothiers is expanding its planning organization and is seeking a Men’s Category Planner to support inventory planning across direct-to-consumer and wholesale channels for both pre-season and in-season periods. Reporting to the Senior Planning Manager, this person will help shape annual assortment strategies, support sales and margin growth, and partner closely with teams across the business. The role is remote, with occasional travel to the Detroit, MI office when needed.
Key responsibilities
- Review performance trends and turn the findings into recommendations that influence cancellations, future buying decisions, and assortment strategy for the men’s assortment.
- Study historical results to spot risks and opportunities within the direct-to-consumer and wholesale businesses.
- Prepare monthly inventory recaps that help evaluate performance, surface opportunities, and guide KPI-focused actions for Planning and Sales.
- Build and improve processes and tools for assortment reviews, using data to support decisions and acting as a key analytical resource for the men’s business.
- Support the creation of annual, seasonal, and monthly open-to-buy plans.
- Track inventory flow plans while keeping turnover and GMROI targets in focus.
- Work with production and fulfillment teams to create consistent and profitable in-season replenishment practices.
- Help create pre-season class-level forecasts for sales, inventory, and margin in alignment with DTC and wholesale teams.
- Adapt well in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment and respond positively to change.
- Stay highly organized, detail-oriented, and effective at managing time.
- Use NetSuite and Shopify as part of the day-to-day workflow.
- Build productive working relationships across functions throughout the company.
- Bring strong analytical thinking and communication skills to the role.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, Fashion Merchandising, or a related discipline.
- 3–5 years of experience in merchandising, planning, buying, or a similar function preferred.
- Strong grasp of retail math and the measures used in financial reporting.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems such as NetSuite.
- Experience planning for ecommerce and direct-to-consumer channels is strongly preferred.
- Ability to interpret quantitative and qualitative data and identify meaningful business themes.
- Comfort evaluating financial and business indicators and converting them into practical actions.
- Proven ability to build effective, constructive relationships with a wide range of internal partners.
- Strong presentation skills for one-on-one meetings, small groups, larger audiences, peers, and executives.
- Ability to set goals, organize work effectively, and follow through to exceed targets.
- Capability to define the steps needed to complete work efficiently and align resources appropriately.
- Must be proactive, able to solve problems independently, and capable of meeting tight deadlines.
