Role Summary
This is a full-time, on-site position for a Medical Underwriter based in Doha, Qatar. The selected professional will assess medical insurance proposals, review medical records and histories, and classify risk in accordance with company rules and regulatory expectations. The role also involves assigning suitable premiums and coverage conditions, drafting clear underwriting outcomes, and recording the reasons behind approvals, rejections, or exceptions.
Key Duties
The Medical Underwriter will work closely with sales, claims, actuarial, and customer service teams to support accurate risk evaluation and the delivery of competitive insurance offerings. In addition, the role includes tracking portfolio results, assisting in the refinement of underwriting policies, and contributing to ongoing improvements in operational controls and processes.
Required Background
Applicants should have strong knowledge of medical underwriting and core underwriting practices, with the ability to assess health-related information and apply company standards consistently. A solid grasp of insurance products and insurance operations is important, especially within health or medical insurance. The position also requires strong analytical ability, careful attention to detail, and the skill to interpret application data and medical reports accurately. Clear communication is essential for explaining underwriting decisions to internal teams and documenting them in a professional manner.
Additional Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Business, Finance, Healthcare, or a closely related discipline is required. Professional insurance qualifications such as CII or an equivalent certification are considered an advantage. Candidates should also be comfortable using underwriting systems, MS Office applications, and basic reporting tools, while working within defined guidelines and regulatory requirements. The role demands the ability to handle several cases at once, meet deadlines, and contribute effectively in a fast-moving team environment. Prior experience in medical or health insurance underwriting within the GCC region or comparable markets is preferred. English proficiency is necessary, and Arabic language ability is a plus.

This role is based on site in Doha, Qatar, and is intended for a professional who can work directly from the office as part of a collaborative team.
