About the Role
The Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Band 2 Medical Laboratory Assistant for a part-time position, working 35.5 hours per week. The primary function of this role is to support the Blood Sciences Department by preparing analytical work across various scientific disciplines. This position operates under the supervision of the Specimen Reception Manager and registered Biomedical Scientists.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of analytical work for the Blood Sciences Department under supervision.
- Communicate effectively with pathology staff, hospital personnel, porters, drivers, and couriers.
- Perform departmental tasks as directed, adhering strictly to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Receive a diverse range of clinical samples within the department from various sources including hospital and clinic staff, and transport services.
- Evaluate sample urgency and sort them according to specific scientific disciplines.
- Verify that sample details precisely match request form information.
- Accurately assign unique laboratory numbers to both samples and forms, demanding meticulous attention to detail.
