About the role
Dynacare is seeking a full-time Medical Courier for its AM Float Courier position in Hamilton, Ontario. This onsite role is part of the Transportation department and plays an important part in moving medical specimens, reports, and other time-sensitive materials safely and on schedule. The position is a replacement vacancy and offers full-time benefits.
Work schedule and location
The role is based at 67 Frid Street, Unit 1A, Hamilton, ON. Working days are Monday to Friday, excluding statutory holidays. Start times vary between 6:30 AM and 10:30 AM, and the finish time depends on the start time assigned.
Role overview
As the courier representative for Dynacare, you will be responsible for collecting and delivering medical samples with care, accuracy, and professionalism. Because these items can affect patient care and medical decisions, reliability and attention to detail are essential. You will also be expected to protect the safety and security of the vehicle at all times.
Key duties
- Collect scheduled samples for client locations with strong attention to timing and accuracy.
- Transport medical reports, mail, supplies, specimen bags, and waste to assigned destinations.
- Represent the company in a courteous, helpful, and professional manner at all times.
- Maintain responsibility for the safety and security of the vehicle throughout each shift.
- Travel to clinics and LHSC locations, including coverage across multiple routes as needed.
- Be prepared for long driving periods, including trips to rural or out-of-town locations when required.
- Move materials in and out of vehicles, buildings, and up and down stairs.
- Work across a range of routes and be available to cover other couriers when necessary.
- Handle TDG-regulated substances and other materials in line with safety requirements.
Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a commercial driver or courier position.
- Valid G driver’s licence with a clean 3-year driving abstract.
- Certification in Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG).
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and remain physically active throughout the day.
- Comfortable working in all weather conditions and dealing with body fluids.
- Able to enter and exit vehicles repeatedly and carry items up and down stairs.
- Reliable, punctual, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
- Must pass a criminal background check and provide a clear driver abstract as a condition of employment.
