Role overview
This role is focused on helping medical department heads, administrative teams, and clinicians keep day-to-day operations running efficiently while supporting strong quality outcomes, patient safety, patient satisfaction, and overall clinical performance.
Core responsibilities
- Support physician privilege and credentialing processes by reviewing qualifications and experience, and help identify risks before initial privileges are finalized.
- Help build and sustain a professional working culture that reflects the hospital’s values, vision, and expected clinical standards.
- Drive consistent improvement in clinical outcomes and patient experience through audit reviews, monitoring mortality and morbidity trends, promoting evidence-based practice, and considering patient feedback.
- Coordinate with department heads and senior leaders to strengthen multidisciplinary teamwork and improve systems continuously.
- Partner with clinicians to develop new protocols and guidelines grounded in evidence-based practice so clinical standards remain consistent across the organization.
- Ensure medical records are properly maintained, current, and completed consistently by doctors.
- Handle patient complaints within the required timeline, take part in investigation committees, and share recommendations with senior leadership.
- Advise the Medical Director and Vice President of Physician Affairs on doctor performance, professional conduct, and adherence to medical standards.
- Make sure there is a strong appraisal process for medical staff using performance data such as audit findings and complaints.
- Ensure doctors’ professional standards and indicators remain aligned with international benchmarks.
- Work with the Coordinator and HR Manager to address concerns related to conduct and performance through appropriate measures ranging from retraining to dismissal where necessary.
- Oversee effective clinical audit systems, review results against benchmarks, complete reporting, and support action plans aimed at top-quartile performance.
- Identify preventable deaths and morbidity cases, ensure corrective action is taken, and help resolve concerns tied to individual clinical practice.
- Lead implementation of JCI and CBAHI standards for healthcare delivery.
- Work with the Director of Nursing and Governance to embed governance priorities, especially those related to infection control.
- Ensure proper arrangements for deceased and bereaved patients and families.
- Ensure blood transfusion and tissue transplantation processes follow national standards.
- Identify modern ways of working based on evidence-based practice to support continuous improvement.
- Review existing department processes and help develop new workflows for smoother operations.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with insurance companies and MOH hospitals to support effective communication and strong patient-care systems.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Medical Director or Vice President of Physician Affairs, with the job scope reviewed regularly against performance objectives.
- Take part in person-centered care initiatives and help improve the patient experience through compassion, respect, and dignity.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited medical school is required.
- Completion of internship and residency is preferred.
- A postgraduate management qualification such as an MBA or MHA is preferred.
- CPMSM certification is preferred.
- At least 5 years of administration or management experience after earning the higher degree in a tertiary care hospital certified by JCI or ISO is required.
- More than 5 years of relevant experience is preferred.
Additional information
This position is based in Saudi Arabia and is a full-time, onsite role. It is intended for a medical professional who can support administration, leadership, governance, quality improvement, and clinical standards within a large healthcare setting.
