Role overview

We are looking for a driven and energetic Marketing Manager for a client in Colchester. This position carries full ownership of the marketing function, covering strategy, lead generation, digital activity, content, brand management, and reporting. You will act as the most senior in-house marketing resource and be expected to combine strategic thinking with hands-on delivery.

The main purpose of the role is to create a steady pipeline of qualified leads for the sales team while managing the company’s digital footprint and coordinating outside creative and agency support.

What you will do

  • Build and execute the yearly marketing plan and tactical roadmap, keeping it aligned with revenue goals and sales targets.
  • Drive lead generation through email outreach, LinkedIn activity, CRM automation, and broader digital campaigns.
  • Oversee HubSpot usage, including CRM administration, reporting, workflows, email marketing, and lead management.
  • Plan and optimise paid campaigns across Google Ads, Bing Ads, and LinkedIn Ads.
  • Manage the website, SEO activity, and content marketing through WordPress.
  • Maintain an active social media presence and manage ongoing online engagement.
  • Work with external agencies and freelancers across design, photography, video, and wider marketing assets.
  • Organise trade shows and events from initial planning through to delivery.
  • Create and manage marketing materials such as brochures, catalogues, case studies, and newsletters.
  • Assist with product launches and new business projects.
  • Monitor KPIs and return on investment, and report findings directly to the Managing Director.
  • Manage the marketing budget and, where needed, help oversee future marketing hires.

What we are looking for

  • Strong background in B2B lead generation, ideally using HubSpot, Apollo, Expandi, or similar outbound tools.
  • Practical experience with HubSpot CRM, including automation workflows, sequences, pipeline reporting, and contact management.
  • Hands-on knowledge of Google Ads, Microsoft Bing Ads, and LinkedIn Ads, including setup, optimisation, and budget control.
  • Confident using WordPress for website updates and content administration.
  • Good understanding of Google Analytics 4 and the ability to turn data into useful actions.
  • Experience using social media scheduling platforms such as Hootsuite, along with organic and paid LinkedIn management.
  • Ability to brief and coordinate external creative partners and freelancers.
  • Experience handling marketing budgets and producing clear management reports.
  • A marketing degree or CIM qualification is preferred.
  • Background in a B2B environment is essential.
  • Experience working closely with a sales team in a lead-generation-driven setting.

Benefits and working arrangements

  • Basic salary of £50,000.
  • Profit-related bonus available.
  • Working hours are 7:30am to 4:30pm, with 30 minutes for lunch.
  • This is an office-based position in Colchester.
