Job description
Role overview
Ascendant is a Canada-based global provider of international business-to-business payment solutions, with operations in the United States. The marketing team is looking for a Marketing Content Creator to help shape how the brand, products, and campaigns are presented through compelling content and thoughtful storytelling.
This is a practical, early-career role for someone who enjoys building content hands-on. You will take product messaging, campaign concepts, and customer stories and turn them into engaging assets across social media, video, graphics, presentations, sales collateral, web content, and event materials.
You will partner closely with marketing, sales, and product teams to produce content that makes complex subjects easier to understand and helps position Ascendant as a modern, reliable leader in global payments.
The ideal candidate is creative, inquisitive, and proactive. Since the payments space can feel highly technical or dated, this role calls for someone excited to make it feel more approachable, relevant, and engaging. Success here requires initiative, momentum, sound judgment, curiosity, and the ability to work well in a fast-moving B2B setting.
This opportunity is best suited to an early-career marketer with strong storytelling instincts and a desire to gain broad exposure across many areas of B2B marketing.
The position is a one-year maternity leave contract with a chance of renewal. It is based in Toronto and requires working from the office four days per week.
Compensation: CAD 48,000 to CAD 50,000 per year.
Key responsibilities
- Develop a wide range of content assets, including social graphics and posts, short-form video and editing, presentation and sales material formatting, brochures and one-pagers, event marketing collateral, website copy, landing pages, customer stories, case studies, infographics, and visual explainers.
- Support the delivery of marketing campaigns tied to lead generation, product launches, events, and brand awareness.
- Work with internal experts to translate financial and technology topics into content that is clear, relevant, and easy for customers to engage with.
- Assist with website updates, content publishing, SEO improvements, and basic performance monitoring to strengthen engagement and conversions.
- Maintain consistency in brand voice, messaging, and visual presentation across all marketing outputs.
- Manage several projects at once while keeping pace with deadlines.
- Keep up with trends in marketing, content formats, AI tools, and current best practices, and look for ways to improve content quality, engagement, and campaign results.
Who fits this role
- You take initiative, follow through on commitments, and work independently.
- You are well organized, reliable, and strong at managing your time.
- You are curious, imaginative, and eager to keep learning.
- You can move work forward without needing constant supervision.
- You enjoy simplifying complex ideas into visual content that feels clear, human, and practical.
- You adapt easily and respond well to feedback in a collaborative setting.
- You have an interest in marketing, fintech, technology, media, storytelling, or digital content creation.
Qualifications
- A diploma or degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Media, Business, or a similar field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Strong writing, editing, and narrative-building skills.
- Experience producing content for digital channels such as social media, blogs, email, websites, or video.
- Ability to handle multiple assignments and deadlines at the same time.
- Excellent attention to detail and solid organizational habits.
Preferred experience and tools
- Background in marketing, content development, communications, social media, journalism, freelance creative work, or a related area.
- Comfort with SEO, content management systems, social scheduling tools, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, HubSpot, or analytics platforms.
- Experience using AI tools to support research and content development.
- Basic experience with video editing, graphic design, or other multimedia production.

Accommodations are available throughout the recruitment, selection, and assessment process for applicants with disabilities. If you are selected to participate in the hiring process, you may share any accommodation needs to support your equal participation.
