Job description
Role Overview
Aviation Metals is hiring a full-time Marketing & Communications Lead to work onsite in Charlotte, North Carolina, with a planned move to the new Pineville headquarters. This position reports to the CSO and offers a salary of $68,000 to $72,000 along with benefits.
The company is a family-owned aerospace metals distributor with 50 years of history, and it is growing into a new phase of expansion. The role is designed for someone who can combine strategy with quick execution, use modern AI and automation tools to work efficiently, and help strengthen the company’s reputation across aerospace, defense, industrial, and manufacturing markets.
What You’ll Do
You will help shape the company’s brand voice, build visibility, support lead generation, and tell stories that deepen relationships with customers, partners, and the wider industry. The role works closely with leadership, sales, operations, outside creative partners, customers, and industry contacts to position Aviation Metals as a trusted supplier in the aerospace metals space.
- Develop and preserve a consistent brand voice across marketing and communications.
- Identify company stories, milestones, and customer wins that can be turned into strong brand assets.
- Plan quarterly marketing initiatives that support business growth priorities.
- Strengthen brand recognition, market positioning, and customer engagement through targeted initiatives.
- Create company narratives around people, customers, capabilities, growth, and community involvement.
- Spot and pursue earned media opportunities, trade publication coverage, recognition programs, and award submissions.
- Build connections with media, trade groups, industry organizations, and community partners.
- Write and send press releases, announcements, customer stories, and industry-focused content.
- Monitor industry trends, competitor moves, and market opportunities that can support growth.
- Plan and run campaigns across digital, print, social media, email, and event channels.
- Maintain the marketing content calendar and campaign timelines.
- Move projects from concept to delivery with strong follow-through and time management.
- Review campaign results using analytics and recommend improvements.
- Create content for LinkedIn, newsletters, blogs, customer spotlights, trade shows, and promotional campaigns.
- Interview employees, customers, vendors, and leaders to uncover stories and content ideas.
- Keep the company’s social presence active and aligned with its values.
- Use generative AI tools to draft, refine, and scale content while protecting brand voice and accuracy.
- Coordinate trade shows, networking events, customer visits, and community activities.
- Manage logistics, booth setup, promotional materials, lead capture, and follow-up after events.
- Support community engagement, partnerships, and brand-building events.
- Help organize internal events, employee engagement programs, and annual holiday activities.
- Support customer relationship and sales efforts through gifts, direct mail, promotional items, and related logistics.
- Act as the main internal contact for outside marketing, design, photography, and web partners.
- Coordinate website updates, asset requests, and digital improvements with vendors.
- Keep marketing materials accurate, current, professional, and aligned with company standards.
- Assist with presentations, customer-facing materials, and strategic communications assets.
Success Measures
Success in this role is defined by outcomes rather than volume of activity. Within the first 12 months, the company expects stronger brand consistency, faster project execution, a more modern visual and written presence, increased visibility in trade press and industry conversations, better results from trade shows and events, stronger external relationships, and a workflow that uses AI tools daily to improve speed and quality without losing brand accuracy.
The company also values marketing as a collaborative partner to internal teams, not just a service function, and expects the role to help build that kind of reputation.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate brings at least 5 years of relevant experience in marketing, communications, branding, public relations, or a related function. Background in B2B, industrial, manufacturing, aerospace, or other technical sectors is preferred. Experience using generative AI tools in an actual marketing workflow is important, and examples of past work using AI to improve speed or output may be requested.
You should be a strong communicator, comfortable managing several priorities at once, and able to execute in a fast-moving environment. The role also calls for experience with social media, content creation, event coordination, campaign delivery, independent work, cross-functional collaboration, and vendor management. Strong organization, attention to detail, and comfort with networking, interviewing, and public-facing representation are also important. A bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related area is preferred, though experience may substitute.
Tools and Platforms
The role expects familiarity across several tool categories, though the company is flexible on exact products. Stronger depth in a few tools is valued more than superficial exposure to many.
- AI and productivity tools such as Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and meeting assistants like Otter, Fathom, or Granola.
- Design and content tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud, and Figma.
- Web, social, and email platforms such as LinkedIn, Buffer, Sprout, Hootsuite, Later, WordPress, HubSpot CMS, Mailchimp, and Constant Contact.
- CRM and analytics tools such as HubSpot, Salesforce, Google Analytics 4, and Search Console.
- Project management tools such as Microsoft Planner, Microsoft Project, Asana, Monday, ClickUp, Trello, or Notion.
Work Environment
This is an office-based role with regular collaboration across departments. You may also spend time in sales, production, customer, and trade show settings to gather content and support marketing needs. Some travel may be required for events, customer visits, networking, and industry activities. The environment is fast-paced and growth-oriented, so adaptability, initiative, and clear communication are essential.
Growth Opportunity
This position offers the chance to help shape the brand during a major growth period, including the move to a new state-of-the-art headquarters in Pineville, North Carolina, near I-485. The role will work directly with leadership, build processes, influence strategy, and grow with the organization as it scales.
