Role overview
An established Irish public sector body is recruiting a Mapping Executive for its Strategic Property function in Athlone. This full-time position supports property, legal conveyancing, procurement, and GIS activities, with a hybrid working arrangement.
The Strategic Property Department plays a central role in delivering the organisation’s strategic agenda, including the Regional Building Program, strategic infrastructure work, land acquisition activity, Next Generation Sites, stakeholder engagement, sustainability initiatives, asset management, and estate management.
Within the Property Legal Conveyancing and Procurement Team, the Mapping Executive is responsible for preparing and controlling mapping documentation used in conveyancing, maintaining accurate land boundary records for asset management and marketing, and supplying correct mapping and title information for client and transactional use. The role also involves managing and improving the GIS platform that supports property and regional operations, as well as assisting the Acquisitions Team with land identification and site due diligence.
This position suits a proactive and approachable professional with specialised experience in mapping and surveying.
Key duties
- Carry out surveying of organisation-owned land using GPS equipment.
- Prepare and administer property documentation needed for conveyancing, such as property instructions, title burden reviews, requisitions, and Declarations of Identity.
- Create information maps, transaction maps, contract maps, rectification maps, and Land Registry-compliant maps.
- Maintain, update, and improve the GIS database and related geospatial systems.
- Manage geospatial datasets within a growing geospatial and data function, ensuring databases and web applications remain current.
- Develop improved processes and procedures where needed.
- Build dashboards, workflows, and automated solutions to improve efficiency.
- Provide training and day-to-day support to Property and Regions teams on GIS tools and usage.
- Assist with site due diligence and title investigation work.
- Work with external consultants and engineers on accurate site setting-out for disposals and boundary corrections.
- Engage with third parties to resolve boundary discrepancies.
- Update and maintain CAD records.
- Contribute actively as part of the Strategic Property team.
- Use technology effectively to support efficient property operations.
- Prepare and present proposals to committees and the Board in relation to property mapping matters.

Requirements
- Level 8 degree in Engineering or Surveying.
- At least 3 years’ experience in a comparable role.
- Strong working knowledge of GPS equipment, AutoCAD, and ArcGIS.
- Understanding of conveyancing and title matters.
- Full driving licence is required.
- Ability to travel and work outside standard office hours when necessary.
- Willingness to remain flexible and interest in international career progression and development.
Desirable skills
- FME knowledge.
- Python and SQL scripting ability.
- Familiarity with Oracle, Tableau, and Power BI.
Compensation
The salary range is €52,546 to €75,472 per annum, with contributory superannuation. Appointment will start at the minimum point of the scale, with annual increments applying. With three years of satisfactory service at the top of the range, pay can rise to €77,286 through long-service increments.
Additional information
The role is based in Athlone and operates under a hybrid working model. Travel is required as part of the job, and some duties will take place outside normal office hours.
