Job description
Overview
The Manufacturing Operator role is responsible for executing the production plan and operating assigned equipment to meet production objectives, ensuring product quality, process standards, and safety. The selected candidate will possess basic working knowledge to support the processing and packaging of finished concentrates, ensuring they are optimally produced to meet safety and quality specifications. This position is a 12-month contract role.
Responsibilities
- Operate assigned processing and/or packaging equipment in accordance with standardized operating procedures, guides, and manuals.
- Perform correct cleaning and sanitation of processing equipment following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Conduct checks and inspections of materials to ensure they meet specifications for processing and production of salts and dry part concentrates.
- Prepare raw materials according to the production plan and quality specifications.
- Transport raw materials and batch concentrate from staging areas to processing areas, which may involve operating forklifts and/or motorized and manual pallet stackers.
- Execute product and package changeovers.
- Utilize SAP applications for transacting process orders, good receipts, and inventory management.
- Operate systems manually or with the assistance of basic process automation.
- Follow safe operating procedures for dust collection systems and adhere to all other safety precautions and criteria.
- Perform basic equipment care, troubleshooting, and maintenance on assigned machinery to minimize inefficiency.
- Conduct 5S activities and routine cleaning in designated areas.
- Practice and adhere to current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), OE Eight (8) wastes, and embrace a Continuous Improvement (Kaizen) culture.
- Update Visual Management Boards, record and document operational data, and maintain necessary operational records.
- Ensure compliance with the Health and Safety Site System and maintain high safety standards on site at all times.
- Undertake any other ad hoc duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- NITEC Certification or equivalent is preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years of technical experience in the food and beverage industry is preferred.
- Possess basic working knowledge in production operations.
- Familiarity with processing and packaging equipment.
- Experience in basic troubleshooting and equipment care.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills, including Email, Word, and Excel.
- Knowledge of SAP applications is advantageous.
- Familiarity with the 5S concept and execution is advantageous.
- Ability to adhere to Safe Work Practices and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Follow Company Safety Policies and adhere to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) processes.
- Understand and follow Chemical Storage and Management processes.
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Food Safety principles (including housekeeping, personal hygiene, pest control, access control, and facility design).
- Experience with basic quality checks (visual inspection) and analytical testing.
- Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Operating a forklift, motorized, and manual pallet stacker is advantageous.
