Role overview
Berkley Group is hiring an experienced Manual Tester for a large enterprise technology environment on an initial 12-month contract. The assignment is based in Dublin with a hybrid setup that requires one day per week onsite. The pay rate is €260 per day.
This opportunity is best suited to a QA specialist with deep manual testing expertise, strong documentation habits, and a proven ability to collaborate with both technical teams and business stakeholders.
What you will do
- Assess functional and technical design documents to confirm they are ready for testing.
- Draft precise and verifiable acceptance criteria.
- Identify the test data needed for each scenario.
- Design and run test scenarios across functional, non-functional, regression, edge-case, conformance, and disturbance testing.
- Log, monitor, and resolve defects through issue-tracking systems.
- Assist business users and stakeholders during UAT and business process testing.
- Keep requirements, acceptance criteria, test cases, and defects linked through clear traceability.
- Record test methods, outcomes, and quality evidence.
- Support test estimation, planning, and delivery-related documentation.
- Review automated test assets when needed to judge coverage, quality, and effectiveness.
- Spot opportunities where automation could add value.
- Guide junior testers and contribute to ongoing improvements in testing practices.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional background in software testing or QA.
- ISTQB certification.
- Solid hands-on manual testing experience in enterprise software settings.
- Strong grasp of testing principles, standards, and industry best practice.
- Practical experience building and running detailed test cases and test scenarios.
- Exposure to system testing, UAT, regression testing, conformance testing, and defect handling.
- Comfort using issue-tracking and test management platforms.
- Good understanding of acceptance criteria, test data, requirements traceability, and quality records.
- Familiarity with API testing concepts and tools such as Postman or SOAP UI.
- Experience testing solutions built on Java and Angular stacks.
- Working knowledge of SQL, XML, JSON, and Unix/Linux environments.
- Experience in Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid delivery models.
- Strong written and spoken communication skills.
- Ability to work well with technical teams, business users, and project stakeholders.
- Awareness of test automation practices is a plus.
- Experience reviewing automated test coverage is an advantage.
- Experience mentoring junior testers is an added benefit.
- Exposure to large-scale public sector, financial services, or enterprise delivery environments is desirable.
