Role Details

This leadership position requires managing two specialized teams responsible for quality engineering and product reliability. The manager will be involved in both high-level strategic planning and day-to-day operational oversight. A key aspect is coordinating globally, aligning with teams across multiple continents, and effectively communicating with stakeholders at all levels within the fast-evolving enterprise environment. The role is based in Apple's EMEIA headquarters in Cork, Ireland, with occasional international travel.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee end-to-end reliability testing, including the planning, conducting, analysis, and assessment of results.
• Develop and influence the global strategy for reliability testing.
• Ensure strict quality assurance practices during innovative product prototyping phases.
• Lead, guide, and mentor separate technical teams to enhance both individual skills and team performance.
• Create, execute, and refine quality methodologies and processes continuously.
• Assist teams in designing, coordinating, and reviewing testing and measurement activities.
• Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams globally to synchronize on key projects and business goals.
• Contribute insights and expertise transparently during interdisciplinary discussions based on data and team feedback.
• Perform risk evaluations and implement effective preventive and corrective measures.
• Deliver regular, meaningful reports and actionable insights to senior management to facilitate data-informed decisions.
• Manage team budgets within agreed financial boundaries.

Required Qualifications

• Over 10 years of experience in quality engineering or an allied discipline, including minimum 5 years in senior management.
• Demonstrated expertise in product reliability testing from conceptualization through execution and evaluation.
• Experience overseeing quality assurance in prototype development or emerging product development environments.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or a closely related technical field.
• Proficiency with statistical analysis tools such as Minitab or JMP.
• Strong analytical abilities, problem-solving aptitude, and an exceptional eye for detail.
• Strategic mindset adopting a comprehensive systems approach to challenges in quality and engineering.
• Highly effective communication, collaborative, and leadership capabilities.
• Ability to remain composed and adaptable in a dynamic and rapidly changing workplace.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with quality improvement frameworks like Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
• Certification in quality disciplines such as CQE or CQM is advantageous.
• Experience managing projects in complex, multi-stakeholder contexts.
• Background working in large global organizations with cross-functional team dynamics.
• Experience in technology-driven or innovation-intensive sectors.
• Preference given to candidates with backgrounds in consumer electronics, but those from medical, automotive, aerospace, or other highly technical industries with comparable development standards are encouraged to apply.
