Role overview
This role leads the Payroll Support and Services function within the Department of Customer Services, Open Data and Small and Family Business. The position is responsible for guiding multiple service delivery teams so they deliver payroll services that support Queensland Shared Services performance goals and operational priorities.
Queensland Shared Services Service Delivery focuses on delivering high-standard customer service while contributing to business, system, and organisational improvement initiatives. The function also works to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness for a broad customer base. In this role, you will advise on how the function is performing and operating, ensuring alignment with the Queensland Shared Services operational plan and strategic direction.
The department’s broader purpose is to improve services for Queenslanders, support small and family businesses, and enhance government service delivery.
Key duties
- Set direction and lead several service delivery teams so they provide payroll services that contribute to Queensland Shared Services KPI outcomes, while working closely with business partners and other stakeholders to achieve the best possible service delivery.
- Deliver expert advice to clients and customers on complex service delivery issues, including current and future payroll and establishment management practices.
- Provide both strategic and practical advice to the Director on matters affecting the business stream.
- Act as Process Owner to ensure transactional processes remain standardised, effective, efficient, and supported by a strong control environment.
- Assist organisational change for the establishment and management of a shared service delivery group for Queensland Government agencies, and represent Queensland Shared Services in senior negotiations, committees, forums, working groups, and similar settings.
- Work across Queensland Shared Services to introduce improved end-to-end processes and provide the Director with feedback on current and proposed business process reform initiatives.
- Strengthen the team’s business focus, service culture, and capability through coaching, mentoring, staff development, and professional development strategies so service demands can be met now and in the future within a commercial environment.
- Encourage a responsible, fair, and safe workplace by applying sound human resource practices with attention to workplace health and safety, employment equity, anti-discrimination, human rights, diversity, inclusion, and performance management.
