About NASTAD

NASTAD is a nonpartisan, nonprofit association focused on public health leaders who oversee HIV and hepatitis programs across the United States. Its work centers on improving the health and dignity of people affected by HIV/AIDS, viral hepatitis, and related epidemics by strengthening public health systems and building partnerships with communities. The organization serves officials in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, seven local jurisdictions, and U.S. Pacific Island jurisdictions.

Role Summary

The Manager, Health Systems Collaboration will help NASTAD move forward on its mission by supporting coordination and innovation across governmental public health systems. This position plays a key role in providing technical assistance to members, including state and local health departments, and in planning work across multiple jurisdictions. The role includes facilitating virtual learning sessions, creating and sharing practical resources, and strengthening collaboration between public health and healthcare partners. It also serves as a subject matter resource on HIV systems coordination, including medical and supportive services, while ensuring projects run smoothly through workplan management, data tracking, communications support, and funder reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the main contact for NASTAD members and for state and local health departments, offering technical assistance and subject matter expertise on systems coordination and stakeholder engagement.
  • Help plan, design, and facilitate meetings and in-person convenings tied to health systems collaboration, including internal planning meetings and stakeholder sessions.
  • Create meeting agendas and handle logistics that support cross-team coordination and project planning.
  • Prepare content and deliver presentations for funders, partners, public health colleagues, and other stakeholders through webinars, office hours, and similar virtual learning formats.
  • Monitor activities and performance indicators with project management tools.
  • Maintain program workplans by tracking milestones, following progress, sending reminders about upcoming start and end dates, updating responsible parties, and providing regular status reports so work stays on track.
  • Build tools, templates, guides, and other resources that help jurisdictions carry out their work.
  • Manage distribution of tools and materials to stakeholders using technology platforms to ensure timely and accurate delivery.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Strong background in governmental HIV programming.
  • Proven project management capability.
  • Excellent organization and close attention to detail.
  • Comfort with technology and ability to learn new software quickly.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including presentation ability.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively both internally and externally.
  • Capacity to manage several priorities and deadlines in a fast-moving environment.
  • Commitment to anti-racism values.
  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent mix of training, education, and experience that shows the ability to perform the role.
  • At least 6 years of related professional experience.
  • At least 4 years of experience in governmental public health, especially in ADAP, Ryan White, or other HIV care and treatment programs.
  • Some experience coaching or providing technical assistance to health department staff.
  • Leadership skills, including strategic thinking and critical analysis.
  • Clear, respectful, transparent, and trauma-informed communication skills.
  • Team-oriented mindset with a collaborative and anti-racist approach.
  • Dependability and flexibility in responding to changing priorities and workplace needs.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking abilities.

Environment, Schedule, and Compensation

This is a full-time role of 40 hours per week. The salary range is $72,000 to $80,000 per year. Remote work is possible, and travel may be required up to 40% of the time. The position is best suited for someone interested in working with a national public health organization focused on HIV/AIDS and viral hepatitis.

Equal Opportunity and Inclusion

NASTAD welcomes applicants from a wide range of ages, sexual orientations, gender identities and expressions, disabilities, religions, races, ethnicities, socioeconomic backgrounds, and life and work experiences. The organization notes that its workforce should reflect communities disproportionately affected by HIV and hepatitis in order to help accelerate the end of these epidemics. All applicant information is kept confidential in line with EEO guidelines.
