Role Overview
This position is responsible for overseeing the full delivery and governance of key Compensation & Benefits activities across Africa and Asia, ensuring strong data quality, consistency, and alignment with global compensation frameworks. The role reports to the People Director and serves as a regional point of contact for compensation matters, helping HR Business Partners and line managers with practical guidance, accurate information, and workable solutions.
Annual Compensation and Reward Cycles
- Lead the annual salary review and bonus cycle execution across the assigned markets.
- Maintain accurate data, strong validation controls, and proper governance throughout all compensation cycles.
- Handle budget monitoring, payout calculations, and quality checks to ensure the process runs smoothly.
- Review and interpret cycle outcomes such as distribution, differentiation, and spend, and use the findings to support HR and business conversations.
Job Architecture and Grading
- Manage job evaluation and grading activities in line with global frameworks such as WTW.
- Serve as the first reviewer for job grading requests, challenging and checking them for consistency and fit with role scope and organization structure.
- Partner with HR Business Partners to ensure role information is clear and job documentation is suitable for evaluation.
- Keep proper records and governance documentation for job evaluation and grading decisions.
- Support regional reviews of the job architecture.
Market Benchmarking and Data Integrity
- Coordinate participation in external compensation surveys, including job matching and submission of relevant data.
- Study market data to guide salary positioning and assess competitiveness.
- Review compensation dashboards and reports, including metrics such as compa-ratio, market positioning, and pay trends.
- Protect the accuracy and consistency of compensation data across HR systems and reporting tools.
- Spot and fix data issues or process gaps quickly.
- Help improve compensation workflows and strengthen the use of dashboards for better decisions.
Manager Enablement and HR Support
- Create and maintain compensation guidelines, toolkits, and communication materials for HR Business Partners and line managers.
- Provide daily support on compensation matters such as promotions, off-cycle salary adjustments, and application of compensation policies and frameworks.
- Support and deliver manager briefing sessions on Yara’s compensation philosophy, frameworks, and processes.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate brings 8 to 12 years of compensation and benefits experience, including exposure to multiple markets in a regional setting. Experience should include annual compensation cycles, short-term incentive plans, and sales incentive plans. Practical knowledge of job evaluation and job architecture frameworks such as WTW, Mercer, or comparable models is important. The role also requires strong analytical ability, comfort with large datasets, advanced Excel capability, and familiarity with HR systems such as SAP SuccessFactors. A solid grasp of market benchmarking and survey methodology, along with strong stakeholder management skills, is essential. High attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to manage confidential information are also key.
