Logistics Planner

Role overview

The Logistics Planner will partner with the supply chain function and wider business teams to apply logistics expertise, support operations, and help deliver agreed targets. The position is based at Danone Nutricia Early Life Nutrition’s Macroom Supply Point, a key spray-drying site and an important supplier of infant formula to other plants in the network, with an annual capacity of 150,000 tonnes.

Core responsibilities

• Oversee global ocean freight activity for infant formula base powder, from purchase order placement through final delivery.
• Plan and coordinate shipments with carriers and hauliers so goods move on schedule and in line with all internal and external compliance requirements.
• Prepare export and import paperwork in accordance with customer service agreements, customs rules, and relevant authority requirements, including liaison with the Department of Agriculture and other bodies where needed.
• Work with factory and third-party logistics warehouse teams to organise loading order and resolve operational issues as they arise.
• Coordinate with the Quality team to ensure products are released without delay.
• Share short-term and long-term ocean freight forecasts with carriers.
• Work with receiving factories to maintain a strong level of customer service.
• Compile accurate information for market supply reporting.
• Support continuous improvement efforts across the network.
• Create logistics purchase orders and process goods receipt notes to support three-way invoice matching.
• Act as key user for the local SAP APO SNP module and related master data.
• Maintain customer relationships, track KPIs, and monitor customer service performance.
• Handle logistics-related complaints and report inventory levels.
• Assist with logistics projects as needed.
• Carry out internal control responsibilities assigned by the Internal Controller.

Experience and qualifications

• At least 2 to 3 years of experience in planning.
• A background in dairy or food manufacturing is preferred, but not required.
• Ability to prepare accurate, concise reports for senior management.
• Relevant third-level qualification.
• Strong command of MS Office, especially Excel.
• Good numerical skills for recording, interpreting, and analysing process data.
• SAP experience is helpful, though not essential.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting ability.
