About the Company

AA Kenya is a long-established mobility services organization in Kenya and is affiliated with the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA). With more than 106 years of history, it has played an important role in the country’s automotive sector. Its offerings span driver training and road safety, International Driving Permits, car passports, vehicle inspection and valuation, technical training, road rescue, driver assessments, and other mobility-focused services. The organization also operates in the tour and travel space, expanding its footprint within the transportation industry.

Role Overview

The Learning and Development Officer will lead the creation and growth of AA Kenya Training Centres into high-performing learning hubs. The role is focused on strengthening employee capability, improving organizational performance, and building a training business that can eventually serve external organizations and individuals while also contributing sustainable revenue.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and put into operation the staff training centre.
  • Develop learning strategy and curriculum frameworks.
  • Coordinate faculty and trainer management.
  • Oversee learning resources and knowledge management systems.
  • Plan and deliver training facilitation sessions.
  • Handle financial management and support commercialization efforts.
  • Track results, prepare reports, and maintain quality standards.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Education, preferably Adult Education, Curriculum Development, or Instructional Design, or in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Professional certification in Learning & Development or Training, such as Training of Trainers (TOT).
  • Certification in e-learning platforms or Learning Management Systems (LMS) will be an added benefit.
  • At least 4 years of experience in training, learning and development, or capacity building.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and deliver training programs, carry out training needs assessments, and manage trainers.
  • Experience establishing or operating a training centre or academy will be a strong advantage.

  • Strong facilitation ability to deliver engaging and effective training sessions.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to align learning initiatives to organizational objectives.
  • Good stakeholder and trainer relationship management skills.
  • Ability to monitor, evaluate, and report on training outcomes using data-driven insights.
  • Skill in organizing and managing knowledge resources and training content.
  • Commercial awareness to manage budgets and support revenue generation from training services.
  • Comfort with learning technologies, e-learning tools, and basic data analysis.
  • Project coordination skills to deliver several training initiatives on time and within budget.
