ACCEREZ, the partnership between ACCIONA, COBRA and Endeavour Energy, has been chosen by EnergyCo to design, build, finance, operate and maintain the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) transmission network. In parallel, the ACCIONA COBRA Joint Venture (ACJV) will deliver the design and construction package for the same project.
The project will create at least 4.5 gigawatts of new network capacity from 2028 and connect 7.7 gigawatts of wind and solar generation, supporting enough electricity for more than 2 million homes each year.
Position overview
This opportunity is for an experienced Civil Excavator Operator to support access track works and bulk earthworks on the Central-West Orana REZ Transmission Project. It is a remote project-based role working on a 14 days on / 7 days off roster.
Transport by bus is currently available only from Sydney, with multiple pick-up and drop-off points between Sydney and the Mudgee area. Candidates living in NSW outside the Sydney transport corridor will need to travel by DIDO at their own cost. This is not a FIFO role. Applicants who live outside NSW will need to organise and pay for travel to Sydney or directly to site if selected.
Key responsibilities
- Run excavators for bulk earthmoving, trenching and civil works
- Carry out clearing, grading and drainage activities
- Complete excavation tasks for trenching and pipe-laying work
- Work closely with ground crew members and spotters
- Follow safe operating practices around plant, people and services
- Help with installing infrastructure such as fencing and crossings when required
- Perform pre-start inspections and basic equipment upkeep
Skills and experience required
- At least 5 years of excavator operating experience in civil construction
- Prior exposure to renewable energy projects is strongly preferred
- Valid plant and machinery tickets or licences, with an excavator ticket required
- Extra qualifications such as dogging, rigging, traffic control and spotting are highly regarded
- Current C Class driver’s licence or equivalent minimum
- Construction White Card
- Access to your own vehicle
- Preparedness to complete a pre-employment medical assessment and police screening
