Role Purpose
The Labour Welfare Officer will drive statutory compliance, support employee welfare measures, and help maintain peaceful industrial relations at the plant. The position centers on applying labour regulations, improving workplace conditions, resolving employee issues, and ensuring a smooth working environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the plant remains compliant with all relevant labour legislation, including the Factories Act, Industrial Disputes Act, and Shops & Establishments Act.
- Coordinate with government officials, inspectors, and other regulatory agencies as needed.
- Keep statutory registers, records, and mandatory filings updated and accurate.
- Support internal and external audits, inspections, and compliance reviews.
- Design and execute employee welfare initiatives such as health camps, engagement programs, and grievance handling efforts.
- Track workplace conditions, including hygiene, safety, and available employee amenities.
- Respond to employee concerns and work toward timely and fair resolution.
- Maintain constructive relationships with workmen and help preserve a positive IR climate.
- Assist in disciplinary proceedings, grievance management, negotiations, settlements, and conflict resolution.
- Manage welfare-related administration, including canteen, transport, sanitation, and similar facilities.
- Ensure contractors follow labour-law requirements and site compliance expectations.
- Monitor attendance, working hours, and overtime to ensure regulatory adherence.
- Prepare reports covering welfare initiatives, compliance status, and industrial relations matters.
- Maintain complete and accurate employee documentation and records.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in any discipline is required.
- A degree or diploma in Labour Welfare, Social Work, or Personnel Management is preferred.
- 3 to 4 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
- Strong working knowledge of labour laws and statutory compliance practices.
- Good interpersonal ability and confidence in resolving conflicts.
- Capability to manage relationships with internal teams and external authorities.
- Problem-solving mindset with an employee-focused approach.
- Strong documentation, record-keeping, and reporting skills.
