About the role

BAT is transforming into a broader global multi-category business with a purpose of creating A Better Tomorrow™ by building a smokeless world. British American Tobacco New Zealand is hiring a Key Accounts Executive for its Auckland office.

Role purpose

This position focuses on strengthening key customer relationships, helping shape account plans, and supporting the team with everyday operational execution. You will contribute to performance analysis, reporting, forecasting, and the identification of growth opportunities. It is a good fit for someone who enjoys working with data, partnering across teams, and supporting business outcomes in a dynamic environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Help create and roll out agreed account plans and business reviews across the relevant channels.
  • Maintain working relationships with internal stakeholders and designated key accounts.
  • Assist the National Sales Manager and broader team in executing key account plans, including coordination with a third-party merchandising provider.
  • Build practical strategies and action plans to close gaps and improve target achievement.
  • Handle day-to-day back-office tasks to support strong account management practices.
  • Support the Key Account Analyst by ensuring reporting on account performance, compliance, and forecasts is accurate and completed on time.
  • Manage forecasting and key account campaign instructions for the relevant channels.
  • Use data and insights to develop business proposals that support growth.
  • Take on additional tasks as needed to support the Key Accounts team.

Required profile

  • At least 2 years of experience in a fast-moving consumer goods environment, ideally in head office account management.
  • A qualification in marketing, business, or a closely related discipline.
  • Advanced ability in Microsoft Excel, along with solid working knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, and general computer systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Sound commercial awareness and the ability to interpret business insights.
  • Experience in account management or category management would be an advantage.
  • Exposure to space-planning tools such as Nielsen or Circana is beneficial.
