Role Summary
This position is for a transactional attorney who will handle a wide range of commercial and healthcare-related legal work, including contract drafting, review, negotiation, workflow management, and compliance support. The role requires close collaboration with internal business teams and a practical, business-minded approach to legal risk.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, examine, and revise complex commercial and healthcare agreements on your own, such as purchase contracts, employment and independent contractor agreements, vendor and service arrangements, payer and provider contracts, and internal policy documents.
- Take ownership of negotiations with contractors, vendors, and other counterparties, working toward efficient closings and favorable outcomes with a high level of independence.
- Review agreements for legal issues and manage the contract process through a contract lifecycle management platform.
- Create and improve contract templates, negotiation guides, and fallback positions to make the contracting process more effective.
- Work with business leaders to collect needed details, provide guidance on contract risks, address concerns, and make sure terms support business objectives.
- Confirm that legal documents align with relevant federal, state, and local healthcare requirements, including Stark Law, the Anti-Kickback Statute, the False Claims Act, Medicare and Medicaid billing and reimbursement rules, HIPAA, and state and federal privacy laws.
- Analyze complex regulatory requirements and translate them into workable, business-friendly compliance solutions.
- Develop trusted internal client relationships through responsiveness, good judgment, and high-quality legal support.
- Handle other legal assignments as needed to support the organization.
Qualifications
- A Juris Doctor degree from an accredited U.S. law school is required.
- Applicants should have 3 to 6 years of relevant legal experience in a law firm or in-house setting, with significant contract drafting and negotiation work.
- Active admission to at least one U.S. state bar is required, along with the ability to secure additional admissions if needed.
- Ability to independently manage legal matters and client relationships is important.
- Strong skills in analysis, drafting, communication, research, and organization are expected.
Preferred Background
Experience in healthcare law or corporate transactions is preferred.
