Job description
Role overview
Geotechnics is growing its Auckland geophysics capability and is seeking a motivated Junior to Intermediate Geophysicist/Technician to join the team. This position suits someone with at least 2 years of industry experience who wants to deepen technical expertise while contributing to high-quality subsurface investigations that support real engineering and construction decisions.
You will work closely with engineers, geologists, and project managers on a wide variety of projects across Oceania, helping deliver reliable geophysical information for design and delivery outcomes. The role offers a supportive environment where initiative, learning, and professional growth are encouraged.
What you will do
- Perform geophysical surveys and collect field data using MASW and downhole seismic techniques.
- Complete borehole logging and interpret results using ATV/OTV methods.
- Process, analyse, interpret, and document geophysical findings for engineering and geotechnical assignments.
- Work with multidisciplinary project teams to shape practical integrated solutions.
- Carry out duties in line with safety, quality, and project standards.
What you need to bring
- A bachelor’s degree or above in geophysics, geology, or a closely related discipline.
- At least 2 years of relevant industry experience in geophysical site investigations.
- Hands-on exposure to MASW, downhole seismic, and ATV/OTV logging work.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving ability.
- Clear, confident communication skills.
- A disciplined, safety-first, and detail-focused approach.
- The ability to work effectively on your own and as part of a team.
