About the role
This position sits within the Core team and focuses on strengthening the technical foundations that support Google’s products. The work centers on building and maintaining the signals, tooling, and infrastructure needed to keep pace with evolving attacker behavior. You will contribute to security analysis, risk hunting, malware review, and indicator analysis, while also helping oversee malicious activity across Google’s networks. The role includes examining risks across enterprise, production, and cloud environments.
Compensation for this role is influenced by job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. In Ireland, the package is listed as €68,000 to €70,000 annually, along with a 15% bonus target, equity, and benefits.
Minimum qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent level of practical experience.
- At least 2 years of experience in security assessments, security design reviews, or threat modeling.
- Hands-on knowledge of host, network, and cloud security principles, including awareness of common attacker tactics, tools, and techniques.
Preferred qualifications
- Security+ certification or a similar credential in cybersecurity or incident response.
- Experience with analyzing, triaging, and remediating typical information security incidents.
- Background in automating work through coding.
- Ability to work independently, set priorities, and manage multiple tasks at once.
- Strong problem-solving, investigation, and written and verbal communication abilities.
- Strong log and data analysis capability, including working with large datasets using SQL or a similar query language.
Responsibilities
- Review security alerts, investigate them thoroughly, and coordinate responses.
- Explore and refine risk-hunting methods to uncover new security exposures.
- Build automation and practical solutions that reduce repetitive operational work.
- Support adherence to legal requirements as well as internal security and privacy standards.
- Take ownership of response handling for incidents classified as low severity.
