Job Overview
We are looking for a Junior Business Development Associate to support our federal government growth efforts, covering AI, digital modernization, product design, data, cloud, and mission technology sectors. This role centers on assisting with pipeline research, managing customer relationship information, tracking opportunities, conducting partner and customer analyses, and supporting capture and growth operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Keep CRM data current and accurate for opportunities, contacts, partners, agencies, and contract vehicles.
- Track opportunity progress, deadlines, owners, estimated values, probabilities, and capture phases.
- Prepare weekly pipeline reports, identify stagnant opportunities, and highlight missing data.
- Assign clear ownership, next steps, timelines, and decision milestones for all qualified opportunities.
- Maintain clean and organized records in markets aligned with MO’s federal growth plan including VA, DHA, HHS (CMS/CDC).
- Research federal agencies, programs, contract mechanisms, past procurements, forecasts, budgets, incumbents, and procurement trends.
- Use resources such as SAM.gov, agency forecasts, SPRUCE, GSA, NASA SEWP, FPDS, GovWin, or equivalents to support research.
- Analyze target customer needs, organizational structures, vendor ecosystems, and purchasing behaviors.
- Identify growth opportunities that match MO’s expertise in AI, product, design, data, cloud, and digital modernization sectors.
- Produce summarized research reports for business development and leadership teams.
- Support early capture activities by collecting data on clients, competitors, partners, and contract histories.
- Assist in opportunity qualification based on MO’s bidding criteria.
- Help prepare pursuit documents including briefs, call plans, partner profiles, and meeting preparation materials.
- Monitor capture meeting action items ensuring timely follow-up and completion.
- Facilitate coordination among business development, capture, proposal, delivery, and executive teams.
- Track and document strategic and small business partners, primes, subcontractors, technology collaborators, and teaming prospects.
- Assist in preparing for customer and partner meetings with relevant research, agenda setting, briefing notes, and follow-up documentation.
- Maintain detailed contact lists and relationship maps of key agencies and accounts.
- Prepare correspondence such as follow-up emails, meeting notes, and outreach content as needed.
- Support organization and follow-up for conferences, industry days, and networking events.
Qualifications
- Experience or exposure to federal contracting, government business development, capture, proposals, or agency research.
- Knowledge of federal platforms like SAM.gov, FPDS, GovWin, GSA eBuy, NASA SEWP, and agency forecasts.
- Experience using CRM and project management software such as HubSpot, Salesforce, Monday.com, Microsoft Dynamics, or Airtable.
- Familiarity with federal health and civilian markets including VA, HHS, CMS, DHA, and CDC.
- Interest in artificial intelligence, digital transformation, software delivery, product strategy, human-centered design, data, or cloud modernization.
- Ability to perform well within structured, accountability-driven, metrics-focused work environments.
Compensation & Benefits
The salary range for this position is $75,000 to $95,000 per year, complemented by comprehensive benefits and growth opportunities. MO follows a structured salary framework to ensure equitable compensation based on skills and experience. This salary band is firm to maintain internal and external equity.
- Work remotely with flexibility; preference for candidates near Washington, D.C. or Austin, TX.
- Positions near these hubs involve approximately 40% onsite client presence; other locations may require up to 25% travel.
