Role overview

The Finance team is hiring a Jr. Staff Accountant to support growth, help roll out a new ERP/financial platform, and contribute to expanding reporting needs.

Location and work model

  • Strip District, Pittsburgh, PA
  • Onsite presence is expected at least 3 days per week and up to 5 days per week
  • This role follows a hybrid arrangement with a minimum of 3 onsite days each week
  • Reports to the Finance Director

Key responsibilities

This position covers accounts payable, employee expense processing, general ledger work, and financial reporting support.

  • Enter supplier invoices into the ERP platform
  • Assign coding to administrative invoices
  • Run weekly vendor check cycles
  • Create and post vendor wire payments
  • Handle and monitor vendor questions and follow-ups
  • Track purchase requisitions and maintain related files
  • Process requests to add or update vendor records
  • Prepare 1099 forms
  • Review employee expense claims
  • Process expense reports on a weekly schedule
  • Record journal entries
  • Support month-end close activities
  • Prepare financial reports and other ad hoc analysis as needed
  • Take on additional duties assigned by the Finance Director

Requirements

  • Working understanding of financial statements and reporting
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with solid interpersonal ability
  • Comfort using Microsoft Windows-based systems and experience with ERP/financial tools such as Abas, SAP, or similar software, plus Concur for expense reporting
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to adapt in a small team where priorities and responsibilities may shift as business needs change
  • 2 to 4 years of accounting experience, or a bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting or Finance, or an equivalent background
  • Prior exposure to public accounting or accounting in a manufacturing setting is preferred but not mandatory
