Job description

Role overview

This position focuses on engaging local residents who are seeking work and supporting the onboarding of community employers under the Jobs Nearby @ CDC initiative. The role helps connect residents to nearby employment opportunities through community-based outreach, workforce support, and job matching activities.

Key responsibilities

  • Build and maintain engagement with resident jobseekers while helping community employers join the Jobs Nearby @ CDC programme across CDCs and CCs.
  • Offer tailored support to jobseekers by listening carefully, understanding their barriers, and walking them through the job search process step by step.
  • Work with employers such as SMEs, neighbourhood businesses, and other community employers, as well as vendors, to support profile creation, job posting management, and effective use of the job portal.
  • Assist jobseekers with creating digital profiles, uploading supporting documents, and using job portals or related platforms to submit applications.
  • Link jobseekers and employers through in-person and online channels, including arranging and supporting on-the-spot interviews.
  • Follow up on jobseeker progress and outcomes, review service touchpoints such as post-interview and post-placement stages, and recommend improvements to enhance the experience for both jobseekers and employers.
  • Grow and strengthen employer networks through relationship building and ongoing outreach.
  • Plan for and take part in events such as job fairs, learning festivals, and outreach sessions that connect jobseekers with employers.
  • Maintain records and prepare reports on jobseeker registrations, employer sign-ups, and success stories for monitoring and evaluation purposes.
  • Support the induction of new Job Ambassadors by providing operational guidance so they can quickly learn day-to-day processes.
  • Carry out other ad-hoc duties not specifically listed in the main responsibilities.

Knowledge and skills needed

The role calls for familiarity with outreach, career or skills advisory, community engagement, recruitment, or workforce development. It also requires the ability to communicate effectively with residents and employers, understand basic labour market trends and workforce policies, and use a second language such as Mandarin, Malay, Tamil, or local dialects to engage with diverse communities. The job involves working independently across multiple community locations, travelling frequently within the district, and being flexible enough to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays when needed. The ideal candidate should also be comfortable with outdoor engagement and community outreach work, and be proactive, persuasive, and resourceful.
